One of the "bad" things about the external material of these machines is that they are prone to fingerprint collection.... also, my brand new machine came with a pretty obvious set of prints from one of the folks that manipulated it before they put the seal on... I thought they were supposed to wear gloves...

In any event... is there some product or special foam that you guys use to wipe off these machines to keep them clean..???

Thanks!!
Alejandro

Also.... the power brick cables have various of these paper labels with electrical ratings on them that I have removed, the stickers leave a messy and sticky residue, any tips of getting that removed from the plastic cable...? I was thinking using something like Goo Gone liquid cleaner (sticker lifter) but I think I remember that stuff contains citric acid and I want the sticky stuff off, but dont want to "melt" my power cord.... :P any tips...???

I have been cleaning Thinkpads, incl. the power cables, for years with 'Goo Gone' with Citrus power. No problems ever.
Just use it in your garage or outside, the stuff has a strong, lingering smell.

Wow... even on the housing...? The cables I had suspected was going to be OK, but also that outer housing was OK to clear with this stuff is a real surprise.

I thought that there was some sort of spray on white foam kind of product that was better for the external housing, especially since I dont have any tough adhesive on the housing, I just want to remove the fingerprints.....

Thanks !!!

Not me.

I'm with RBS on GooGone...that poison works wonders.

As does isopropyl alcohol for the basic light cleanup of fingerprints and similar stuff...
