WTB T23 heatsink
I don't know what happened to my T23 but now its fan produces the kind of grinding noise that is known to happen to T43 fans after some time. So does anyone have a spare T23 fan to spare? (T23 model only, as other T2x models use different fan due to a less efficient Coppermine cpu and older socket)

Re: WTB T23 heatsink
I have three T23 fans (08K7366/26P9166) for sale at $7 each, but to Canada shipping alone is $24.95 (same price for 1 or 3).

Re: WTB T23 heatsink
Alright. I have installed your heatsink and worked fine! Thanks for that!
As for your hinges, the right hinge went loose after a day of use. Fortunately, the original pair's defect is the left hinge and the right hinge was fine, so I will probably couple that up if I have time. I found out that if the two screw nuts don't stay together tight enough, the hinge will go tight when you open the lid and go loose when you close the lid which is actually annoying.
Also a question: did IBM ditch that kind of hinge with two screw nuts, that is used in T/A/X2x and earlier, starting with A30 or something?

Re: WTB T23 heatsink
Happy to hear the fan worked out OK for you.
I wasn't aware of any loose nuts, I only tested the hinges manually and they felt very tight actually.
I remember the T30 hinges with at least one nut.
Then no nuts at all for many years.
Seems they have come back with the X220 and the T430/T530.

Re: WTB T23 heatsink
Get loctite medium strength and undo the nut and clean unwanted grease from both threads. Put little bit of loctite on thread *only* and install nut and torque to correct friction and wait for loctite to cure.
Loctite is from commerical stores (eg: acklands grainger) and canadian tire.
I used low strength loctite in past on a forever hidden screws that likes to loosen up and pain to get at especially in notebooks. Gateway Solo 2200 was infamous for one dangerous screw under the CPU daughter board that loosen up and might kill notebook. This is a notebook you want to avoid, as it is constructed of notebook in a notebook with nearly 100 screws to undo and redo on reassembly. Most of it is because of sheet metal shielding boxes.
Cheers, thinkpadcollection
