I love this. Great information. I'm definately buying one once they are released.
It's odd they call it a X41 because it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner. I'm sure they'll assign it some other model number once it's released.

Re: x41 tablet series coming soon!!!
Release postponed to end of June, beginning of July was the most recent date I've heard bandied about.dmdsoftware wrote:I heard of an official announcement is going to made May 15th and release will be sometime in June.
But apparently there is some drop-dead pressure to have this on the streets during the 4Q fiscal '04, perhaps due to the sale.

James

Oh my, I just took a closer look at that picture. Is that a Windows key on the keyboard?

You're right - they were all replaced by lunatics! Is nothing sacred??G-Man wrote:Yep, looks like a Windows key to me. There must have been some changes in ThinkPad's enginering/designing group.

How many non-Windows OS's exist for tablet PCs?
Is there really a linux alternative that people will use?
If the answer is no then it makes sense to include a Windows key since that is how the vast vast majority, if not all, will be used.
C'mon guys, think before you let your MS hate blind you

From the looks of it, the unit is X-series sized.
I am wondering how sturdy the single hinge is. I'm used to having 2 pieces of stainless steel holding the machine together, so a single hinge makes me a bit nervous. No way to tell until the unit ships, I guess.

I have less than zero interest in bashing any OS. My objections to adding another key to an already crowded keyboard are purely ergonomics and aesthetics. Look at how small it makes the space bar.admsteiner wrote:C'mon guys, think before you let your MS hate blind you ;)

It's not Windows key. That's Japanese layout keyboard.nonny wrote:Oh my, I just took a closer look at that picture. Is that a Windows key on the keyboard?

its supposed to be used as a tablet..Skywing wrote:im generally not one to say anything negative about thinkpads. and i was really lookin forward to the tablet, but geez wtf did they do to the keyboard? the space bar is almost nonexistant, it looks almost impossible to type comfortably on
primary use, right..?
so a tiny space bar can be forgiven..??
besides, wait until the US model arrives..
