T61 Chinese Review w/Pics
T61 Chinese Review w/Pics
My apologies if this has been posted here somewhere, but I didn't see a thread.
Someone posted a link to this on NBR, and there are some pretty good pics and tests done, although not that I can read the results. (Even Babelfish couldn't handle this one!)

Anyone have any comments on the build quality stuff they note on pg 5?
namely..
Case joints don't fit together as well.
Plastic very thin, easy to deform.
Keyboard light is much dimmer.
LCD Panel X Body joint is now larger, more visible space between.
If anyone has had both a T4x and now a T61, would you agree with those observations?

God, the fan/heatsink on the T61 is HUGE. No wonder it runs cool! To me this was the most impressive part of the review:
Temperature Test : (PC Mark05 operating temperature 25 degrees Celsius)
rukiri, T61 is a very solid machine - I had the chance to see a bunch of T61s last week and they were really, really solid and built great. There was no flexing ... maybe this review machine was an exception. It runs way cooler than an T4x, heck even cooler than the T60.

Due to the fan's mass and location of headphone jacks, no wonder why the palmrest is off-centered.gator wrote:God, the fan/heatsink on the T61 is HUGE.

A follow-up on the above question: If we look at the second photo on page 10, the height of the Taskbar can give clues about the display resolution, i.e. it's taller on a low-res screen than on a high-res one. It does look short enough for the screen to be WSXGA+, but I am not sure.pianowizard wrote:Wait, there is now a 14.1" WSXGA+ T61?

I hereby officially bestow the title "Eagle Eyes" to PW. I don't know how I missed that part ...but maybe its a typo. If it is not, a LOT of people are going to be very happy.pianowizard wrote: Wait, there is now a 14.1" WSXGA+ T61?

on page 11 it says:
I'm also concerned about what rukiri said about the case joints and flexing. Also that the speakers blow, but that's sort of to be expected.
edit: also, this pic shows that 3dMark06 was run at 1280x800, for some reason: http://img.intozgc.com/d/1/015/innr5OHQylhWw.jpg
1440x900...so it's WXGA+, not WSXGA+ (which would be 1680×1050)T7300 (2GHz), 1GB RAM (Single DDR667), 160GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, DVD + dvdRW. Nice pictures. Gotta love the way this guys dismantle almost the whole laptop. I like very much the heatsink pictures, you can see basically the only difference between the T61 vs T60 heatsink is the Northbridge makes contact with thermal grease on the heatsink, in the T60 there was a thermal pad.

It looked like there was no grease on it. Just the GPU.xtr wrote:Nice pictures. Gotta love the way this guys dismantle almost the whole laptop. That is a very nice breakdown of the T61. The guy did a very thorough job on dismantling and testing the various components. I had to laugh at a lot of the 'engrish' but other than it's great.I like the fact the the HSF now covers the northbridge as well. The flimsy plastic on the left palmrest area do concern me though. I would love to see a T61 in a store so I can take a look-see.
