I dunno about you, but personally I think Windows XP should have been named Windows FP, for Fisher-Price!

I found this theme Microsoft released recently called Energy Blue... It's colored with a little more style. Microsoft's installer says you can only install it on Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 machines, but obviously they just restricted it for marketing reasons, it's still fully compatible with all other XPs.

Just download the two files below, and then drag the installer into the .bat file... The .bat is safe, it will only copy the theme into it's right directory. For those of you who are familiar with changing your XP GUI, this .bat file does NOT modify your UXTheme (like StyleXP)... Your UXTheme doesn't need to be changed, because this is an original Microsoft Theme...

Just install it, and select it from your Display Properties.

Theme Installer:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 86-ENU.exe

.bat file: (If you're using Firefox, just save the page as Royale.bat)
http://www.boomspeed.com/d104/RoyaleInstaller.bat

Enjoy! :D

It's not too bad. I normally use the classic UI, but I may try this one for a bit. Thanks for the link.

Nice one. I like it a lot. That batch file works perfectly.

I wonder if this Energy Blue theme is exactly like the Windows Media Center 2005 default theme. I was in a Costco & they had a Sony 3.6 GHz desktop PC with Media Center 2005, it seemed like the theme was a much deeper and pleasing blue, not the candy colored blue of the normal Windows XP theme.

Supposedly the released Energy Blue theme is "broken" since MS forgot to include the new shellstyles.dll file with it, so it basically just applies a new color scheme to Luna Blue. I've been looking around at pics of MCE2K5 though, and it looks nearly identical, so I'm not sure what the big difference is supposed to be.

Energy Blue looks better than Luna IMO, but I still like BlueCurve better.

The theme is broken in that when you open up my computer, the side bar is the wrong color and in the wrong style. There is actually a leaked version of this theme that has been around longer, but actually has a newer version of the needed file. The file is shellstyle.dll. To fix, here is what you must do:

1. Download the leaked file:
http://download.softpedia.ro/software/OS%20ENHANCE/Royale_theme.exe
2. A zip program such as WinRAR must be installed. Right click the downloaded file and extract it.
3. Put shellstyle.dll in \WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Royale\Shell\Royale

To replace the shellstyle, make sure that you are not currently using royale when you attempt to do this.

Like I said earlier, i really like this theme.

There is a link in red called "To go to the correct download page for this file, click here" that you have to click on to get to the page. This is the page it gives you with the link:

so don't worry about the first few links in this thread and just download that royale theme and put the shellstyle where you said and that's it?

i really wish they had a good silver/slate style and a modified start button. i use the silver theme right now but don't want to venture into downloading user modified shells and stylexp stuff (also b/c i haven't been able to find a clean one that has minor tweaks to improve windows look without sci-fi computer crap as well). my menu's in windows or in programs are already messed up (i could include a screen pic if you'd like) probably from me editing the registry to fix the silver theme.

Well if you ONLY install the shellstyle file, you won't get the theme. It's just a small fraction of it. You still need to install the theme with the .bat file, and only then add that shellstyle file.

hmm i like the energy blue royale theme ok but i wish they had a windows one where instead of xp silver or royale blue it was dark slate grey / silver (not that light almost white silver and not with the ugly green start button that takes up so much room)

I think the Longhorn themes are slate gray with silver but I'm not positive. There is a web site that has the theme for download but the name slips my mind, you might want to do a google search.
