When I got my X60 in 2006 I set the BIOS to prompt to ask for password when you turn on the laptop. I do know the password and that is not the problem, the problem is that I would like to disable this now that my wife is using the X60 and she got tired on typing it every time. I actually saw that thread before and tried the drivers and they install perfectly but still I don't get any sound. I will try with Linux mint to see if I can get any sound out of this thing.

On my new project the 600 IBM everything is working perfectly but I can get any sound from the speakers or the headphones jack. BIOS is outdated, so that may be the problem.

The thing is that I don't have a floppy drive to update the BIOS and I don't see an ISO option for me to try with a CD.

Good point, but when I'm realizing the installation the Setup sees the drive just fine so it should be seated correctly I guess.
