Re: T480 disk options - and I searched
I have done this. No major problems but I would like to note two things: 1). The only drive I could find are the SN520 drives of Western Digital. These don't have OPAL, so hence no Full Disk encryption. 2). On boot, the bios once in a while swaps the labels nvme0 and nvme1 between the drives. This c...

Re: T480s FHD screen to QHD screen upgrade - log & step-by-step guide
Just done this with a B140QAN01.5 screen. Couple of remarks: - The vertical distance between the mounting holes is about 1-2 mm too large on the screen. So I only use the screws on the top of the screen. - The connector is on the new screen about 1cm closer to the hinge. I cut some of the plastic ri...

Re: T480s FHD screen to QHD screen upgrade - log & step-by-step guide
Thank you for the guide. Looking forward to do this myself soon! Regarding mounting points, on panellook.com it appears that the earlier editions B140QAN01.1 and B140QAN01.5 do have mounting holes in the right spots. They do have slight higher power consumption though: 3.5W (Typ.) for the 02.3 4.4W ...

Re: Apt-X and BT LE/SMART support by Bluetooth v4.0 daughter cards
Hi,
Did you ever figure this out?
I'm interested in getting AptX going on my x220, but don't want the clutter of another dongle.
Thanks

Re: X220 (and X201, X200) USB 3.0 Expresscard
Hi
I had trouble getting the STARTECH ECUSB3S1 working on X220 and T61p under both Linux and Windows, but now I have gotten it to work.
I needed to update the firmware (RENESAS->USB3.0->720200). Now it works on both systems and both OSs.
Transfer speed is some 150MB/s.

Interesting.
They might be using the SATA connection on the docking port.
If you are courageous, it should be easy to test this yourself. THere are also SATA-> msata converters available.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p
Hi I have a modded X220. It seems that under Debian with kernel 4.12 everything works fine, but under 4.13 I get no login image (so it is likely an Xorg issue). Did anybody else notice this ? Any fix? Perhaps related to bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1724639 I did not apply a BIOS or kernel patch but...

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Here is my problem: I had the FHD working well, but since a few days, X doesn't show on my panel any more. That is, as soon as X starts, the image disappears. Importantly, the boot screen and Win7 still display correctly, so it almost has to be a software or system error. My external monitor does st...

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
I'm using my FHD-upgraded x220 with mini dock 3 (the one with one DP output).
You can use both at the same time:
- the FHD screen, which shows up as DP3
- an external DP screen, which shows up as DP2.
So the system works even better than I hoped, as this docking station keeps all its functionality.

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Just a little tip:
In order for brightness under linux to work, make sure that not just DP3, but also LVDS1 is enabled.
The reason is fairly obvious, but it puzzled me for a while.
(I use arandr for this, a GUI interface to Xrandr).

Re: X220 FHD Upgrade?
Success! Although I have not finish the fitting yet. Here are my thoughts: - nitrocasters package is superb, everything is there and fits like a glove. His manual is good as well. - soldering the 2 wires is really tricky. It is of course very small, but also the melting temperature appears hard to r...

65W vs 90W power supply: how does it know?
Hi, I have a small problem and a question. I have an X220 with a 65W power supply of which I replaced the DC cable. Oddly enough it is now recognized as 90W. This is usually ok, but under combined heavy load and charging, it is overheats and shuts off. So: 1) how does the laptop know which powersupp...

Looking for swap: T61p UK keyboard for US keyboard
Hi,
I have a T61p with UK keyboard, but I prefer a US keyboard.
Is there someone who would like to swap with me?
Keyboard is almost new.

Spec benchmark Duo processor
Lenovo has put the SPEC benchmarks on spec.org. This is for a T60 @ 2.167 GHz, code compiled with intel C v9. Scores are Integer: 1754 FP: 1580 This can be compared to the 755 processor @ 2 GHz in the same database (a Dell precision). Integer 1541, FP 1088. The test will mainly use one core. Neverth...
