Re: Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads

Blockmetal: If I remember correctly, basically a) Use Acronis TrueImage to make one CD boot disc b) Take copy of existing hard disc with Acronis onto an external hard disc c) Replace hard disc d) Boot with CD and restore image to new hard disc. e) Reboot and you are back up and running but with larg...

Re: T41 - Akkumulator will not charge

Check the wire connections to the power socket on the rear of, and inside, the T41. Ours had a broken solder joint, hidden under a heatshrink sleeve, caused by the connector being loose. I assume that you have checked the DC output of the mains adaptor. I hope that this helps you solve your problem....

Resolved - Slow Reboot into XP from OSX on T43

I am experimenting with Hacintosh on my T43 and have 10.5.1 installed on an external USB drive, which works fine. I have yet to try networking and wireless, but that can wait. Before booting up in OSX I shutdown fully on XP and then retstart into OSX. At the end of using OSX I shutdown OSX, remove U...

Re: How Rescue and Recovery Saved me

R&R certainly helps, but Acronis TrueImage may be a better bet for backing up your hard disc as you can recover individual files, if needed, or simply reinstall the whole disc in one go. I do a full (rather than incremental) hard disc back up at the start of every month -with others in the month if ...

I have read about not using it, but actually sometimes I go over the keyboard with our vacuum cleaner. Re: TrackPoint vs TouchPad

I find the trackpoint too slow. Also, moving between several laptops, one of which does not have a trackpoint (Gateway), I use the TouchPads as I have them set to roughly the same response. For speed on the main laptop (T43) I prefer to use a wireless mouse.

Re: Returning from Hibernation Re-Hibernate Feature of XP

Would a macro do it? Or perhaps try the (free) script utility I came across recently called Autohotkey, which you can find at http://www.autohotkey.com. There is a very useful forum attached with scripts of all kinds.

I hope that this is of some use to you.

Returning from Hibernation Re-Hibernate Feature of XP

I have two laptops I often power up first thing in the morning, while having breakfast. Thinking about the start up beeps a lot more (why can something so simple be so difficult to implement?) and I found a way towards a solution. Resolving T43 with New HD and Two Beeps

From reading Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads in the T4x forum, I believe a fair few users would appreciate a solution to this seemingly trivial problem. As most are aware replacing the hard disc with a non-IBM disc, produces an error message and two beeps at boot time. With...

Re: Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads

Two beeps on startup: I haven't seen it mentioned here, but one way to stop the two beeps is to use a batch file/ macro to run at shutdown and start up. Shutting down sets sound off, and booting up turns sound back on again. Any thoughts? I am not sure how one would integrate it into the various met...
