IBM pccbbs back on line!
It looks like Lenovo has got pccbbs back up and running! ...well sort of The files are all there and can be downloaded. The problem is you can't browse them to see what's there. The files are hidden. You have to know the name of the file to download it. For example If you go to the following link yo...

Yes, the same thing happened to me last week. I was trying to manually enter a username and password into password manager at the time. The next thing I know all of my passwords were gone!
I was not able to recover them.
I figured it was a Vista related issue because I never had this problem with XP.

Complete PC Backup experiences
I'm a big fan of making and keeping backups. Anyone who has experienced the loss of a hard drive will quickly gain backup religion. That's why I was eager to test Vista's Complete PC Backup function. I just wiped the hard drive on my T60 and installed Vista and activated it. What a perfect time to d...

Use the old WinDVD
I use the WinDVD codecs that came on my XP loaded T60. They work great in Vista. WMP11 works fine.
You need all of the files in this folder from your old XP preload:
C:\IBMTOOLS\APPS\DVDPlay
Simply copy them over to your new Vista Business install and run SETUP.

Another vote for PerfectDisk 8.0
I run PD8 on all my Windows computers...laptops, desktops and servers. It's a great product and uses very little resources.
Go to their website and download the trial version and give it a spin for a week or so.

Configuration Utility?
I'm in the process of upgrading my T60 from XP Pro to Vista Business. Most everything seems to be available except the Configuration Utility.
What are others doing to handle that? Is there a workaround?

When you perform a BIOS upgrade you are given the choice to change the serial number.
Download the latest BIOS here and run the install program.

Software Installer is going away
There's more info here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... OFT-UPDATE
Basically it says "Software installer is being replaced by System Update 2.0. Software installer is still available at this time to allow you to transition to System Update 2.0."

System Update 2 updating itself so won't run
Since I updated to System Update 2 I cannot get it to work. When I try to run it I get an error that says "System Update is being updated. Please wait while System Update restarts". When I click OK it closes System Update but nothing happens. It's been doing this for several weeks. Normally I use So...

I notice on the side there is a icon of a phone and beside it there is what looks like a removable flap... yet it doesn't seem to be removable. Is this where the modem would go if there was one? Yes, it is ThinkPad Configuration Version 1.19, Utility version 1.19d. Re: 760 and cardbus
The 760XD as well as the 760E and 760ED do support cardbus in Windows 9X. Cardbus has to be enabled in the Configuration Utility > PC Card Slots > Cardbus: Enable. I've used 10/100 LAN and wireless cardbus cards in all three. Cheers Edit: http://thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:760XD You are correct! I ...

Re: Software Installer broken?
It tries to download the update, then completely starts over, and then declares that the download failed. It happened on two of the 4, so no reason to believe it won't on the rest. I had the same problem with Software Installer. The Intel Chipset update and the Intel LAN update both would try to do...
