as I remember X220 has msata which means you can buy 32GB msata and install OS onto it , then use 2,5" HDD/SSD as storage

if I were you would install vmware player
it's free and much user friendly than virtual box
besides it's full compatible with ubuntu
I used it lot of time with no issues
about installing ubuntu on the vmware player
all you need to do is just customize it like network connection,printer etc

did you check your usb-Win7 disk on other pc or laptop

in my opinion the best solution is just burn iso to usb using ultraiso > tutorial
did it few times and never had any issues

it's not a problem with SSD it's a problem with T60 series
actually with hardware limitation..
you wouldn't have that problem with T61 as you can find patched BIOS which eliminates that

I have installed totally 3GB RAM in my T43.
2GB in under keyboard and 1GB on the bottom of the T43
BIOS sees 3GB RAM but Windows XP only 2GB RAM.
Why? Is there any particulart reason that XP doesn't see 3 GB RAM

Why don't you use some virtualisation software (VMware/Citrix) tu run W2K8
It's faster and easier way and you don't have to worry about drivers

Sorry to say that but I have to... 1) You can say everything about the MBA but you have to admit that design is great and I doubt that Lenovo will design something "looking good" as well 2) The Aluminium which been used , makes MBA looks very solid same Dell Adamo - Lenovo probably will not use Alum...
