Re: SL 510 support for Linux

Just in case anyone is still interested. I have it running with Debian for quite some time now. First with Debian6, now with Debian7 (testing, Kernel is 3.2). Everything works as expected. WLAN, Bluetooth, Sound, camera, VGA and so on. I have not tested HDMI but expect it to work, just like the rest...

Re: GUIDE: Reflow GPU fix - 56K WARNING!!!

Hi, I found your guide a couple of days ago, because i had just bought a T40 with that problem on it. At first, i wanted to buy all the stuff, but then i realized that it would be very much money just for one time using. So i searched a place where i could rent the stuff and i found this : http://w...

Re: Fresh install of bundled Win7

Right. In another thread someone says the COA sticker is under the battery on the SL510, so this is where you should look on a SL410 i guess. As far as i know, if you pick the right download (Home Premium if you have a license for Home Premium and so on), it doesn't matter if your license is a stick...

Re: SL510 ......... just received

I have a SL510 too. It's kind of big indeed, at least compared to a T40 or 4:3 T61. I really wonder, who needs 16:9 displays in business hardware? Had they included a numblock, the design would have looked less bulky. The more or less empty bars left and right from the keyboard don't make the hardwa...

Re: SL 510 support for Linux

Didn't go very well. I installed Kubuntu 10.04 from the alternate CD. Installation went fine and all the hardware worked, wireless, ethernet, vga and such. However, there seems to be a problem with the thinkpad-acpi driver, it says unsupported modell. The result was that the fan was constantly runni...

Re: Fresh install of bundled Win7

Microsoft itself provides downloadable ISOs through it's partner Digital River, wich means downloading is quite legal. Of course you need to have a proper license. Here are some of the links, but remember to pick the right one for your license: Windows 7 Home Premium (x86) – DVD (English) http://msf...

Re: Overclocking on SL510?

I just looked through the BIOS, i didn't see any options for overclocking. I'm not an expert tho. Besides, i have the Model with the 35W TDP CPU and i hear the fans every now and then. You could use a 25W CPU wich should run cooler and has more MHZ.

Re: SL 510 support for Linux

I got my SL510 yesterday (2847-7mg) and i'm very pleased. My version was supposed to come with a DOS preinstalled, but it turned out the harddisk was empty. Who needs DOS anyways? I have the 2GB version for 430 euros and bought 2GB more for 60 euros. 4GB should be plenty. It doesn't feel bad, it's c...

DVI only up to 1600x1200. Sorry, but that's simply not true. The DVI is single-link and will go to 1920x1200. From thinkwiki: All ThinkPad port replicators and docking stations officially support a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 on the replicators/docks DVI port. However, the thinkwiki says also t...

DVI only up to 1600x1200.

Given that you also use the builtin display at the same time, do both displays run at 32 bpp (i mean at 1920x1200)? I think 32 mb VRAM is not enough for that.

You just need to craft a xorg.conf file and put it into /etc/X11/ . Here's mine (without any gurantee to be complete, but it works for me on my T23): I doubt that will work in VMware. The problem i see is that the VESA 2 specifications does not know the resolution 1400x1050 and Solaris xorg most li...

Re: Troubleshoot me - Flickering monitor on battery -undervo

I used the notebook hardware control to undervolt my T43... ran prime95 with no errors. I forced it to run at 6x 800 mhz when on battery. While it was on battery and I was outside, the screen would occasionally flicker dim/off for about one second ... Why should the Notebook work reliable when you ...

I think in your case it's safe to delete the IBM MBR. One easy way to clean the disk is this: - Make sure your Windows setup CD is bootable - Safe your files - Download drivers for your network to a CD or floppy - Download RIP (a bootable Linux CD) from http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/loo...

Someone asked if i sell the T23 without PDA and port replicator. That would lower the price to 320 euros. Another question is how much shipping to USA is. It's really to much: the cheapest shipping with DHL is 42 euro with delivery after 12 days. Plus 6 euro assurance and whatever it costs to exchan...

I have NetBSD 3 on my T23 and this is what i use: I don't use xorg. I have different hardware architectures and need a GUI that is the same on all of them. Wich means i use XFree86. However, xorg trys hard to be portable and i think in time i'll switch. My .xresources: http://www.tecneeq.de/files/do...
