Re: T61p fan never kicks in
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I was just worried that it might be a software issue, and they might moan if i sent it in and there was nothing wrong. If the same thing happened to you, then that's good enough for me. I'll give them a call to pick it up. EDIT: Logged a call... they told me to run PC docto...

Re: T61p fan never kicks in
Could someone with a t61p tell me what driver they have under 'computer' for ACPI? I think its all windows update's fault and its overiding some of the lenovo drivers EDIT: There were two drivers there, i switched to the other one, and i also forced the nvidia graphics card to the lenovo driver. The...

Re: T61p fan never kicks in
yeah it still has waranty till october 2010. I have done a clean install (vista CD, not recivery cd's), and I'm begining to wonder if its missing a driver. Lenovo have discontinued system installer, so I had to install them manually. That was really painfull, because the exe just extracts to \Driver...

Re: T61p fan never kicks in
Ok so after alot of experimenting, it seems that the fan is working. But, if I run at about 50% CPU for 10 to 15 minutes, the in built BIOS settings never take the fan over about 3000 rpm. This leads to the temperature slowly rising to 95-100 dergrees and the laptop shuts itself off. In normal usage...

Re: T61p fan never kicks in
Hmm i've already done that. It already had the latest bios.
I think there is some driver missing or something. The CPU reaches 90 degrees while on BIOS control, even when i'm not doing much with the computer. Its probably not being stepped down i guess.

Re: T61p fan never kicks in
so i installed tpfancontrol, and if i set it to 'smart' mode the fan turns on, and i can hear it.
When i set it back to BIOS mode, it never turns on, even when the temperature increases. A problem with the BIOS maybe?

T61p fan never kicks in
Hi, My thinkpad t61p shuts itself down when i overwork it. I can feel the bottom is really hot, so I assume it has overheated and has shutdown as a precaution. The only thing is, i never hear the fan at all. Could the fan be dead? Is there any way to force the fan on, or otherwise test it? I have ju...

Re: LCD backlight
After alot of research, it looks like its the backlight that's dead/dying. Its probably not worth getting a new screen for it.. pitty.. the UXGA screen was imaculate with no dead pixels. Anyone want to buy parts or the whole thing off me? I'm in the UK, around london area. Its a 2668-F8G, with 2GB r...

Re: LCD backlight
I'm having a similar problem... At first the screen starts off a bit yellow, and then returns to normal after a while.. Then if the screen is on full brightness, it turns off after 3 to 10 seconds. If i press the little switch the screen comes back on. I installed a new invertor but its doing the sa...

trouble with fan asembly
I've read the hardware maintenance manual for my t43p and it says to pry up the fan assembly at a certain place. It lifts easily from that place, but on the bottom right is another chip that it seems to be glued onto with some thick black stuff. That part just wont lift off the main board any ideas?...

Screen powers off
Hi, my t43p screen just turns off after anywhere between 3 seconds and 2 minutes. When i press the little switch that usually gets pushed in when u close the lid, and release it, the screen comes back on, again for 3 seconds to 2 minutes Any ideas what might be wrong? I just set the brigthness to mi...

Ok so i found a profile here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=174408 I used the one from user 'stallen' although its for a WSXGA+ T61. Then i set the digital vibrance to +20 (at the cost of some images looking too orange.. i think +10 is actually the right mark) I would have upload ...

T61P WUXGA colours
After some time using my t61p and switching between laptops i'm finding the colour on it seem really washed out. I have tried fiddling with the colour profiles in windows but they dont seem to make any difference (they don't appear to make any change at all). I have read on google about people sayin...

I have 4GB in my t61p (3gb usable of course), and i did notice a difference with readyboost after a few hours of my normal use. Thats more because of the way i use my laptop and my habits. For example i usually have about 15 apps open at once - multiple instance of the same too. Especially while dev...

Personally i found ReadyDrive to be quite useless. My (hybrid) harddrive tells me it has 387mb of NVRam already. BUT, i have noticed a huge difference when using readyboost when i'm opening alot of instances of the same applications. I have noticed a significant speed improvment when i open a bunch ...

So the seller offered to send me the Intel Turbo Memory module or take a $60 refund. I took the refund and ordered a module from the UK for £15 :) Anyway its all installed and up and running but i had another question. Since the T61p doesnt have a sdcard cover, i'm going to put an old sdcard in ther...

While i was waiting for an answer i did a windows update and that fixed it! Very strange, i'm sure i didnt have to do it before. In answer to your questions, i went through to fingerprint control panel either through client security (nothing greyed out) or directly and used elevate privaledges. Even...

Client Security 8 problem
I just did a custom restore, then hit cancel at the fingerprint enrolment on every boot until i had finished with system update. I installed client security last, then finally enrolled my fingerprints. Now no matter which option i select in the control pannel it doesnt authenticate with fingerprint,...

Erm i know that already. I've checked on the Lenovo website and i DO have the controller as the driver is installed. I have also checked on the Intel website and it refers to the same hardware which i see in my control pannel. What you pointed me to is the windows Ready Boost which does indeed fire ...
