Problem with ThinkVantage System Update

Hi all I noticed a week back that when I tried to run my System Update, the entire application would crash and I couldn't access any updates. I kind of ignored this, hoping that it would go away. I just tried it again but I got the same message, where a Windows box pops up saying that the program en...

ah thanks. So I went into the Event Log and checked out the messages that sprung as that error occurred. It would seem that my T43 gets locked up when going into Stand by when the wireless modem is on. I tried it just before, turned off my wireless and tried stand by again.. this time it worked! Doe...

I noticed this problem just yesterday with my T43: when i tried to put my laptop into standby mode while running on battery, it freezes up during the screen that is used to transition to a blank screen (Preparing to stand by or something like that). On the other hand, when running on my char...

ahh you're right, a reboot generally does help but the prospect of having to go through my processes list is kinda daunting... any of the moderators have a take on this? i mean, sometimes, i'm just in the middle of something and I can't afford to reboot for one thing.

USB Flash drive problem

Hi all, I was using my flash drive a few days ago when I finished up and clicked on the "safely remove hardware" icon on my taskbar. Unfortunately, I got an error message saying that some program was still accessing it. I was in a hurry and didn't bother to pursue the problem further but I used my f...

As for firewalls...I use Zonealarm, what can I tweak to allow Yahoo Mail attach files over Ffox? I mean, I already allow...

Yahoo Mail problem

Hi all. I recently opened up a Yahoo email account and was going to attaching a file to a message to send. monitor flickering problems

I was just opening my realplayer to watch a movie when my screen started to flicker on and off at a rapid interval for about 5 seconds. It's happened once or twice before but never for that long. Any suggestions?

Having difficulties with Firefox

I recently downloaded and installed firefox 1.5.7 though my problems started as of last night. When I double click on my icon on the desktop, the browser does not start though it is listed in the taskmanager as one of the processes. The only way I can get it to run is on safe mode though even then, ...

startup problem!

Hi all. I'm not sure if my problem is strictly an OS problem but when my thinkpad is starting up and comes to the desktop loading part, there are several failure to start windows that pop up with the names of certain programs. In the window, it says something like "this program failed to initialize"...

problems with my mouse pointer?

Hi, first time posting a question, love the forums and my 43. Anyway, I had a peculiar problem last night while typing away... my mouse pointer just started drifting to the right in a straight line. It's happened before when I plug my mouse into the laptop but this time, I didn't have the mouse plug...
