Re: T60 poor wireless speeds - wireless card or router? or both?

I'm on a Motorola SB6141 modem if that matters. D, I've got a T61 and found an N+ wireless card for it. I don't know if this is an option for you. I run two separate networks in the house. One for old devices and one for devices that can connect to N+. My T420 and T61 maximize my Comcast connection...

Re: Adding more memory to T420

Thanks, Funky. I've only got 1 strip of 8GB in the machine. The bad strip has been removed. I let it run for about 10hrs last night..It was still grinding away this morning but with 0 errors.

Thanks. I've already ordered Crucial memory to replace the Corsair. I'll just eBay the Corsair when I get them back from the mfr to offset the expense.

Re: Adding more memory to T420

I've had problems with this Corsair memory over the past week. I had a serious BSoD event and the computer would no longer boot. During my diagnostic tests one of the memory sticks came back as FAILED. It doesn't give me any other info beyond that. I'm RMAing both sticks back to Corsair. Unfortunate...

Thanks, Brad. That switching on the G570 takes place with Fn+F3. It seems to work most of the time on this machine but still doesn't help 'til the machine is fully booted.

Lenovo G570 with damaged screen, can't use BIOS

G570 4334-4QU I'm not sure if anyone has a solution, but our 1 yr old G570 hasn't endured well in the hands of our son. It's been dropped multiple times and the plastic hinges have essentially failed. So, the laptop screen is dead, but I can still run the machine as a desktop replacement when plugge...

Re: "Fan error" - replace assembly, replace fan, or repair?

I just purchased the (OE) M10 long fan for our T43 last week and installed it. Fairly simple. eBay cost was ~ $30. This new fan is much quieter compared to the original, failing T43 fan.

Re: T43 Fan Failure?

You should be asking for the long M10 fan from a T42, P/N 13R2657 , they are quieter than the T43 M24 fan and do an excellent job. RBS, thanks for your every-helpful tips! I need to do the fan in our T43, too. It's getting noisier with every passing week. Will the "long T42" fan fit all T43 units? ...

No, the drive in my machine is the standard issue 7200 rpm.

This HDD Accelerator seems like the real deal. It has shaved ~ 45 seconds from my painfully slow boot process :)

Albo, thanks for the run down on all of that.

I installed it too. I'll leave it for a couple weeks and see what happens. The "RapidBoot Shield" slowed my start up times...which are incredibly long :(

Re: Adding more memory to T420

I think I notice a slight improvement in overall performance. There is a clear improvement when doing intensive stuff with foto processing, etc. My boot up times are horrid on this T420 (WIN7). I've done multiple measurements and my time is about 2 mins 40 seconds to get to the log-in window and the...

Re: Adding more memory to T420

Yep can definitely use 16gb in a T420 (see my signature below). I ordered this 16GB kit today for $9...
