Re: Bought A Used Phone Privately - Refund After 6 Months?
You're right TPF - just a hair over 4 months actually, though I think we can have the same discussion... I found it interesting as I had never thought about it before, and I usually think about these transactions in the context of purchasing something through a store like Walmart or Target, where th...

Bought A Used Phone Privately - Refund After 6 Months?
Hi all - Wanted to run this by the minds of the forum and get some perspective... Back in November, 2022 I bought a used iPhone from a seller on another computer forum. He said it was unlocked, so I bought it and kept it in storage as a backup device. Flash forward to February 2022 - I sold the phon...

Sweet! Thanks RBS - I'll give it a try and update.
Edit: The new WXGA panel arrived yesterday. It works perfectly, just at a lower native resolution.

Replacement LCD Options for T410
Hi all! It's been a while since my last post... My mom has a T410 whose screen her boyfriend somehow managed to damage. The machine is a T410, 2522-WBR. The FRU for the part is 42T0731, making it a WXGA+ display. These 1440x900 displays tend to be more expensive (and less readily available) than the...

I've been using Kingsoft Office, it's snappy on my X61 and reads/writes DOC format and reads DOCX (the paid version lets you write DOCX):

Re: In appreciation of the IBM Thinkpad X24
My first ThinkPad was an X21. I've also had an X20, an X22, and an X24, and there is just something about the way they feel, the thinness and the sharpness of their lines that I like more than the X3x models that succeeded them. Even with Pentium III they were decent web surfing/office machines a co...

Re: Is there a 'best' Thinkpad for OSX?
Honestly I'm not sure. I imagine the hi-res screens would require dedicated graphics which can be troublesome in hackintoshes. If you can find one with an Intel chipset I think you'd be OK.

In my experience, there's a chance it could work, but be ready with a Windows 7 install DVD and an external CD drive...
Did your W520 come with a 7mm SSD, or the more standard 9.5mm drive size?

Re: Is there a 'best' Thinkpad for OSX?
They're not ThinkPads of course, but the HP ProBook 4530s has a reputation for excellent hackintosh compatibility, and can be had for under $400 at the HP business outlet. Other recommendations (with a couple Lenovo machines as well, apparently): http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/09/best-hackintosh-lap...

My first ThinkPad was an X21 running Windows 2000, and I also had DVD issues with the UltraBase. This old post helped back in the day:

Re: Brag about the "good deals" that you've bought!
I scored on craigslist last week. A gentleman sold me a T61 in practically new condition for $60! It needed a hard drive, but a coworker gave me one. Now I just need a power adapter and I am set!
