No, he originally wanted $85. This board lets you edit your posts, which, IMHO, is a big mistake, because you lose such history.

Re: ubuntu and t42 / t42p

I just finished installing xp and ubuntu (easily installed version of debian). It picked up almost everything including wireless! This was a great plus since I am still new at linux and I have been too lazy to tackle wireless under FC2. So for you lazy ones out there, ubuntu is very nice and does i...

which is the "blue scroll key"? On current "T" models (like my T42), there is a blue button that is part of the TrackPoint (pointing stick). When you click the button, then the stick becomes a "scroll wheel" of sorts. Usually, the mouse pointer becomes a small vertical scroll bar when you click the...

I have used the recovery disks twice on my T42, and each time it repartitions the disk back to the way that it wants the disk to be. So yes, it formats the partitions, because otherwise, it would not be able to use them.

I used the HP utility to make my USB key bootable because I wanted to fix the MBR on my HD. To do that, you run the DOS program "fdisk /mbr". Unfortunately, that did not work for me because the USB key ends up being drive C: when I boot from it, and the fdisk command works on the USB key instead of ...

Re: I will never purchase an IBM product again

I am happy with Bill Morrow's service, and the T42 I received is excellent, though it could use some more ram ;) I originally purchased a T40p from IBM in late May. After seeing the 2373-3VU offer, I returned it for a refund, and purchased the T42 through Bill. Unfortunately, IBM double charged me ...

All good suggestions, but have you given FreeBSD a thought? It is `like' Linux, although it is older, more mature, and close to the Bell Labs Unix. I run it on both a 600X and a T22. Bob, I am going to be getting a T42 soon, and I plan to dual boot WinXP and FreeBSD. I know that your T22 is differe...
