Re: trying to replace T61p 14” 1400x1050 SXGA+ by saturday

How can I find what LCDs would work in my system? I have available one that has ASMP41V9446 and another that has ASMP41V9447 - although this seems like specifically the cable part number? Is there some other part number/FRU on the panel itself somewhere?

trying to replace T61p 14” 1400x1050 SXGA+ by saturday

I need a miracle... my loyal t61p's backlight decided to go today, and I'm leaving for a month of travel on Saturday. Ouch. I need a complete/working T60 14” 1400x1050 SXGA+ LCD display assembly by Saturday, in New York City. So far, I haven't found anything thats worth buying online, everything is ...

Re: Full 4gb memory not seen by system

I guess my only option is to go frankenpad and put a t61 mobo in the machine in order to get at the additional RAM. I've already done a fan/heatsink replacement, a CPU replacement, and a keyboard replacement, how much harder can replacing the motherboard be?

Re: Full 4gb memory not seen by system

VERY old hat. The T60/T60p chipset has a limitation and cannot see more than ~3.2GB. Neither can a 32-bit OS. Ok, I'll be switching to a Core 2 Duo and a 64-bit install soon, but it sounds like that isn't going to give me anymore? I'm searching the forums to try and find the information you mention...

Full 4gb memory not seen by system

I had 2x1gb sodimms in my t60p, but wanted to upgrade. So I popped in 2x2gb sodimms, and looked in the BIOS and it showed that there was 4gb. However, on bootup the memory check stops somewhere in 3gb. When I boot up, the operating system only sees 3gb. I'm pretty sure I have the latest BIOS revisio...

Replacement keys for external USB keyboard P/N FRU 02R0400

I've got a nice external USB keyboard that works really well, except the 'F' key, and its underlying mechanism has gone. I've been trying to find replacement keys, but haven't been able to find any. The mechanism is different from the one in the T60, so I know I can't just buy any keyboard and it wi...

Re: Swapping processors in T60

If you're willing to spend $150 on an upgrade, I would recommend selling what you have and getting something newer. You will have much better upgrade options in terms of cpu selection and maximum ram support. Do you think that still holds true if you have a t60p, and you upgrade from a T2500 to a T...

Integrated graphics vs. discrete, which do I have?

I have a t60p, model 2623-D8U, with the ATI Technologies Inc M56GL [Mobility FireGL V5200]. Would this be considered an integrated graphics card, or a discrete one? The reason I ask is I'm considering an ebay auction for a replacement fan, and it specifically says, "This fan is mainly for models wit...

Finding a 39T0958 NMB

My keyboard on my T60p (2623-D8U) has gone south, dropping letters. I've been looking for a new keyboard, and although I seem to have an ALPS model, the going preference here is the NMB, so I'd like to give that a shot. However, I'm having a hard time finding one to buy. Does anyone have any tips? I...

Re: T60 is so slow, help me figure out a SSD ultrabay solution!

With respect to 1) and 2) that is, getting a big, fast, relatively cheap internal drive, I’d suggest to get the IBM 2nd HDD Caddy SATA2 + HDD CD-ROM to 2.0 USB caddy [/u] and use the caddy in your T60 and mounting your presently-in-the-T60 CD/DVD-drive in the USB-box... a very cheap and elegant sol...

Re: T60 is so slow, help me figure out a SSD ultrabay solution!

T60 has Ultrabay Slim, which has a PATA connector as standard. BUT, a lot of people experience problems with cheap Chinese knock-offs. The REAL IBM/Lenovo 2nd HDD adapter does not have any problems. Searching around it seems like this goes for $75-90, which is a lot more than the $17 I found the ot...

Re: T60 is so slow, help me figure out a SSD ultrabay solution!

The one question I haven't seen an answer to is: 3. It seems like people typically get a SSD and use it as the internal boot device, and then put regular spinning media in the UltraBay, why is that? Why not just put the SSD in the ultrabay? My I/O problems aren't really with booting... sure it would...

Re: My X61t has started its fan in snowblower mode..

My T60 has recently started making a similar noise. I am not sure if it is the fan coming off the bearings, or if there is a ribbon cable being hit by the blades. It seems to change a bit if I rotate the machine while its making the noise. Its not always making the noise either. I guess I need to op...

Re: T60 is so slow, help me figure out a SSD ultrabay solution!

I've done exactly as you're thinking, but on two Z61p laptops. Z61x was the predecessor of the T60 line. Nice little laptops. * Offhand, I don't know which version of the ultrabay 2nd hard drive caddy a T60 uses, but poke around, it's easy to find. You can get 'em cheap, too. I think that this is i...

T60 is so slow, help me figure out a SSD ultrabay solution!

My T60 (2623-D8U) is so slow, its painful. The main problem is the 5400RPM 500gb Hitachi drive. Many times during the day I'm stuck waiting for I/O, its painful. I love the large storage, but I need some speed for some operations. I've been doing a little research and I've found that I can get an Ul...

I've got a 600e that has a recently replaced LCD and keyboard, but I can't get the harddrive to work any longer. I suspect the IDE controller died, and the motherboard needs to be replaced. New T41p battery not as good as expected

Just got a T41p via ebay from an authorized IBM refurbisher, it has a 9-cell Li-Ion battery, and even with cpu frequency scaling enabled the battery seems to only last about 2 hours. This seems low, but maybe its normal? The thinkpad still has a year of IBM warranty, and 3 years of Mack warranty, an...
