FS: T43 14.1" SXGA+ Samsung LCD panel

I purchased this from eBay as part of a restoration project (you may have seen my whinging in another thread), but because I made the purchase far too late at night/early in the morning, I missed the fact that it's used. It's guaranteed to have no dead pixels by the seller and is in very good condit...

Reason to hate change (n + 1): ThinkPad keyboards changing

Oh no! Future ThinkPads may all have chiclet keys When do I give up on ThinkPads? I've had 53 in the last 5 years, such has been my devotion. Maybe it's time to let go? Or, just maybe, these keyboards will be so awesome that no dishonour will be brought upon the legacy. Maybe the screens will be so ...

I seek a label kit

Hello fellow men and women of great class and heightened sensibility, I never got to have a brand new T43p. The emotional void left driven me to buy every other ThinkPad I've seen. I've owned 53 ThinkPads in the last 5 years, but none of have been the one that got away. As a last resort, I have emba...

Here is another W510 that I purchased unnecessarily. Maybe I should just go and find a girlfriend. Or a cat? Unlike the other one , this one is brand new, unopened, sealed in its original box. Not that I really used the other one either, but sometimes it's nice to just be able to say it was brand ne...

FS: [NSW, AUS] W510, i7-820QM, 8GB, 500GB, FX880M, warranty

I bought too many ThinkPads. I used this W510 for about a month. I bought it from GraysOnline. It sat on my desk with a thin piece of plastic on top so that it wouldn't gather dust. I only used an external mouse, keyboard and monitor. The battery is unused. What I really wanted was the i7-920XM mode...

Alright. I might wait for another sale to see if I can get one of these babies after all. I'll know in advance not to expect a modem and put it in myself this time. I'll also avoid talking to anyone at Lenovo on the phone.

Re: Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

I asked a Lenovo ANZ manager to contact you in the other thread. Just email her at the address provided, then you should able to get some help from Lenovo ANZ regarding the issue. Thank you for that. I will follow that up and explain the situation. For anyone else's benefit: calling the Lenovo help...

Re: Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

I contacted Lenovo about this issue as well about a month ago and they gave me the same response that the w520s do not come with 56k modems built in anymore. From reading other forums, the only ones that actually have the modem are pre-built or pre-configured w520s--many that are for school/college...

Re: Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

Don't ask Lenovo, look in the maintenance/parts manual, then check around to suppliers and order by part number. Numbnutz at Lenovo are just gonna blow this off; you have to do it yourself. I don't have one to look at, but it is hard to tell what parts you need. The modem card is easy: 60Y3207 You ...

I'm sorry, my profile is out of date. I live in Sydney now - but I think that falls under the same Lenovo jurisdiction. Unfortunately the laptop I've purchased was through the US store, as I was coming over on an (extended) business trip :/

Can you still help?

How do I get actual customer service or someone to take resp

First of all, I'm sorry for polluting the forum with yet another voice of discontent. I'm only doing this because because I have some faith in Lenovo. My loyalty to ThinkPads has brought me this far not to simply have me return the unit and wash my hands of the affair. I want a resolution. I posted ...

Re: Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

While you're at it, might as well get a floppy disk too, righto? :D Everyone brings that up! I've already stated that this is about principle! I mean, the VGA port is old, but there's a lot of infrastructure still relying on it. I've never used the Firewire port for anything. The fingerprint reader...

Re: Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

I just got off the phone again. The manager present on the sales line insisted that there was no way of configuring a modem, and that it had been taken out due to "business decisions". I pointed out that my model is listed in the tabook with a modem and that all product shots on the website include ...

Can you even get W520s with internal modems anymore?

Reposted from the Lenovo forums : So after some searching I've discovered that this is not a new issue, but I've also discovered that there are no conclusive solutions to the problem, either. I want a W520 with an internal modem. I don't think that's too much to ask. Every ThinkPad I've owned until ...

Thanks for your thoughts smh. I went ahead and bought this because I couldn't bring myself to be patient. Hopefully it works ok - I don't really expect too much for the price. Replacement battery for X300

Hi everyone, Sorry in advance if this has been covered already. I did try searching first. I have an X300 with a failed battery. I'd like a replacement, but not for the exorbitant prices charged by Lenovo for replacement parts. I've had success buying third-party, non-Lenovo batteries from eBay for ...

Re: Upcoming X1 [pics]

I'm not a fan of the looks, at all, but I am a die-hard fan of the ThinkPad, so I'm happy to see that Lenovo is continuing to innovate to stay alive. From what I've seen, I'd prefer the X1 over a tablet (any day), but because of its power it may even be a feasible replacement for the T420 (which I t...

New Zealand ThinkPad sale is when?

Hello, I posted this on the Lenovo forums already but (unsurprisingly) got no response. So I'm hoping someone here has more secret-squirrel information for me... Since Lenovo rudely terminated the last sale it advertised in NZ half way through the advertised sale period, I've been waiting patiently ...

Re: Reflections on a new T410s

I've been burnt by Lenovo's fooling about a few times now. First, when I really wanted a T60p, they stopped making them the week I went to buy one. I'm still bitter about that and haven't managed to find one in decent condition to buy since. I bought a T61p instead, and though I wouldn't admit it at...

Congratulations on your decision Shadowku. I have spent many, many, many hours of my life agonising over which ThinkPad to buy (so in the end I resolved to some how buy them all). In terms of performance, the T410s you had configured had only the SSD advantage (though that is significant if it's imp...

I would have gone for these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370413155654 Cheaper ($27.99 vs. $33.99) AND more powerful (5200 mA vs. 4400 mA) Yeah, they are more powerful, but because I'm in New Zealand shipping ($15) would've made them more expensive too. The ones I got ship fre...

Re: T60 with dead battery, freezes in Windows XP

Thanks for your replies, guys. I tried taking the battery out shortly after my first post, and lo and behold my woes disappeared. The machines run perfectly (as far as I can tell) without the batteries in, as you've suggested underclocker. I'm really curious as to why exactly, but that can wait. I h...
