Re: does TRIM activate by default on a new Windows 7 install?

Your SSD support trim. You can run the following command in command prompt to check if trim commands are enabled or not: "fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify". DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled) DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled) That doesn't ...

You are probably not losing your mind :)

I understand your frustration and this kind of bugs just shouldn't happen. I hope you manage to recover all your data even if it's still annoying that it happened in the first place.

Re: WARNING: x220 bluetooth driver possibly corrupt.

I have read several reports of such a problem where this happened because of the Bluetooth software version 6.2.1.1400. It was related to the uninstaller that wiped the drive and i have seen it happen as well. Lenovo pulled that version and replaced with version 6.2.1.1401 where the release notes sa...

Re: Current State of Drivers and Trim on SSD's in Thinkpads

Thanks, seems like the new driver is a bit faster compared to 9.5. I tried running CrystalDiskMark 3.0 B5 x64 some weeks ago and got the results below on a W500. It doesn't require a blank partition to test write. * MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/sec [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 bytes/sec] Sequential Read : 259....

Re: Entry point IsWow64Process could not be located in KERNEL32

IsWow64Process is a function to determine whether the specified process is running under WOW64. The function is only available for Windows XP SP2 or newer. So not supported under Windows 2000. For compatibility with OS that do not support this function GetProcAddress should be called first to check ...

Re: Current State of Drivers and Trim on SSD's in Thinkpads

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and installed the Intel RST 9.6 driver and it seems to be working well. I checked the Lenovo RST driver, and I already had the latest version installed prior to this ...9.5.7.1002. My understanding is that trim support started with the 9.6 drivers. Yeah i guess yo...

Re: Current State of Drivers and Trim on SSD's in Thinkpads

For trim support you need the MS AHCI driver or the RST driver that can be downloaded from Intel. There is also a RST driver available from Lenovo. Both works fine on the T410 and many other TP's. I'm not sure if the 9.5 driver from Lenovo support trim, but either way i would rather pick the newer d...

Has anyone tried the RST driver in a T410, and if so how does it bench against an Intel SSD running the MS AHCI driver? Link to RST driver? You can get the RST from Lenovo or directly from Intel (same driver except the one from Lenovo is a older version). Below are the links to download from Lenovo...

Re: T410,Which better get the ssd from lenovo or get intel x25 ?

Some thinkpads come with a Samsung, some with Toshiba and some with Intel SSD. I think the T410 comes with Samsung SSD, but not 100% sure. If you search this forum i'm sure you will find the answer since this been discussed several times already. If it's 128gb it's for sure not Intel. The Intel X25-...

Re: T410 i5 vs i7, 7200 vs ssd and Nvidia vs Inel does it worth?

I would recommend a SSD if you can afford it. I got a Intel X25-M G2 and it's a lot faster than my old 7200 rpm HDD. The SSD gave me a performance boost and cannot imagine that i will ever use a HDD in a laptop again. If battery life is important i would also recommend the i5 since the difference in...

We have nearly 30 Thinkpads in our office here, and I've configured every single one of them. Re: Best way to upgrade to SSD

I would advise against a 'clean' install that requires manually installing drivers as I have never been able to get all functions of the machine 100% when doing so, and you'll also lose out on the 'Lenovo Enhanced Experience' which is likely part of the reason for the fast boot time. I always do a ...

I'm not sure what kind of problem you had with nod32, but i would be surprised if 4.2 solve the problem. I been using Nod32 for some years and found it to work pretty good, but i always found the support to be pretty bad. Re: Need opinions on W500, quick!

Some people suggest getting a W510 instead of the W500 (not referring to anyone in this thread), but i don't find those two really comparable. The W500 is basically a T500, but with higher resolution LCD panel and the the FireGL V5700 instead of the HD 3650. Except for these two they are pretty much...

I believe it's G1, but not 100% sure so you should wait for someone to confirm this or not. I also have to say that i agree with ThinkRob. The results i have seen so far than the Intel SSD's and some other brands easily outperform those you get from Lenovo. Also as ThinkRob said you know what you get.
