Re: Experimentation with A31
Now i found out that 14.1" SXGA+ does work in A30. Now i am having issues because the resolution list does not list SXGA+ while the new monitor is detected. And if i disable the GPU driver SXGA+ can be displayed. Does a newer driver version help? - Problem solved. I used the Windows XP driver desig...

Re: Experimentation with A31
Do models earlier than T23/A30 work with Wireless cards since they all have modem as MiniPCI instead None of them will "bark" at a wireless card AFAIK. However wiring of the antennae into the lids that were never meant to accept them may prove to be quite challenging, especially on thin units such ...

Re: Experimentation with A31
Lastly, if you will be installing a better WiFi card into any A3x, use the no-1802.com boot diskette or run it under DOS mode in Windows 9x/ME to remove the whitelist check :) As far as I know, this is incorrect. I tried a 2200BG with non-OEM, IBM, and Dell firmware in A3x, they all work just fine ...

Issue with Thinkpad A30p & Thinkpad Dock II(2877)
I have a Thinkpad A30p that I'm having some issues with the docking station. I actually have 2 of the docks. When I use my R52 on either, everything works fine. A DVD or hard drive in the Ultrabay is detected and works, the passthroughs work and the PCMCIA slots work. However, when my A30p is attach...

Re: WTB T60P UXGA IPS screen
T4x screens fit in an A31, so that Sharp will also fit. Good to know. Only issue I've seen with the new screen is when I switch to a terminal from X-Windows(I run Linux) and back, sometimes the backlight with start pulsing and I have to power off the laptop. Perhaps the inverter isn't the exact one...

Will this sharp panel fit?

If you take laptops apart, you should have a proper #00 Phillips screwdriver. Re: WTB T60P UXGA IPS screen
Ok, got the new screen installed in my spare T60p(T7200). The original screen had a vertical line on the far left side and pressure marks. The new screen is much brighter and whiter overall than my main T60p(T7600G) with them sitting side by side. It's as crisp if not crisper than the older screen. ...

Re: Thinkpad A31 always boots from 2nd HDD
I've bought an SATA to Ultrabay 2000 adapter and put a 500GB SATA II WD hard drive into it. During booting, the screen is black and in the upper left corner there is a blinking cursor only. The second SATA drive is visible in BIOS as some weird characters after expanding the "Hard Drive" on the lis...

Workpad Z50 PCMCIA/Compact Flash hard drive questions
I recently aquired a pristine Wordpad Z50 with the 32MB RAM upgrade. I have a 2GB Compact Flash card. However, it's slow as molassas. On my T60p I get about 7-8MB/s and on my X21 I get like 1-2MB/s. The Z50 is no speed demon, but I'm working on installing NetBSD so any thing that can improve access ...

A30p 802.11n MiniPCI Wireless Upgrade - No Error
I have an A30p laptop. It had the original 802.11b MiniPCI wireless card. I was using a Cardbus card to get 802.11g until recently. I purchased this from Newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704061 It's a TP-Link MiniPCI 802.11n card. $22 shipped. I had previously ins...

Looking for a list of T60p types for UXGA
I've looked & looked & I can't find the exact "Type"'s for the 15" UXGA(I may have overlooked it). I'm going to be in the market for a T60p with a 15" UXGA in the next few months, and I was hoping to have a list of the types so I can make sure I get what I want. Any help will be greatly appreciated....

Re: Hotswap on A30p help needed
When you click on the tray icon to disconnect an ultrabay device, a list of the eligible devices appears and you click on the specific device. Re: Thinkpad A30p hard drives caddies in both bays doesnt boot
I know the SATA works in either side, so I guess SATA does use cable select automatically. Now I need a second SATA adapter & 2 - 1TB drives. Talk about a portable movie server! Correction - The SATA drive wouldn't work in the left caddy until I changed the jumper on the internal drive to slave. Th...

Re: Thinkpad A30p hard drives caddies in both bays doesnt boot
Yes the DVD Burner is probably set to cable select and the same for the internal drive, but who knows. Most of the laptop drives I have dealt with had no jumpers attached, so they would work in cable select mode. There are two IDE channels in the A30, they take two drives each, but only three are i...

Re: Thinkpad A30p hard drives caddies in both bays doesnt boot
I had the same issue with my A30, but fixed it by looking in to jumper settings for the individual drives (master, slave etc.). The SATA drive will have no such thing though, so it might have to sit in a particular slot in order to avoid a conflict with the internal HDD. I think I remember that if ...

Thinkpad A30p hard drives caddies in both bays doesnt boot
I have a Thinkpad A30p (1.2/1GB/320GB) system. I have a PATA ultrabay adapter as well as a SATA ultrabay adapter. These caddies work just fine in either ultrabay, as well as in my Dock II ultrabay, but I can't get the machine to boot with both the caddies in the laptop ultrabays at the same time. Fo...

Re: A22p floppy interface - ultrabay?
Please define "many things"...because I'd beg to differ, and seriously so. All you'll ever get to work in an A30p will be Tualatin 1.2 combined with 1GB of RAM, and that cripple of a GPU, Radeon 7000. On the other hand, you can max out the A31p with a 2.6 CPU and 2GB RAM. As outdated as it may be f...

Re: A22p floppy interface - ultrabay?
Unfortunately it is not an ultrabay interface. It has been awhile since I had one apart. IIRC there was a small ribbon cable for the floppy connection. Another hard drive in the ultrabay makes sense.Brad It does. I have an A22m that's in pieces that I want to play with and see what the pinout is. W...

Re: A22p floppy interface - ultrabay?
You're so far behind on the tech curve, it's hard to say. You should see my 390X with a 750 P3, X21 with a P3/700, and the 380XD with the Pentium 233MMX then. :-) I also have a Powerbook 3400 with a 180Mhz 603 chip as well. What I'd recommend is that you get a PCMCIA/USB 2.0 card and use a cheap ex...

A22p floppy interface - ultrabay?
The A22p has a builtin floppy like the other A series machine. What interface does this use? Is this actually an Ultrabay 2000 interface? If it is, could it be modified to use other Ultrabay 2000 interfaces, like an IDE or SATA? I'd love to be able to add a 1TB SATA to this old machine, and would li...
