Re: T22 boots then dies...
You could be having a CPU overheat problem. Or there's a problem with the inverter or backlight circuitry. You might also have a situation with bad memory. High temperatures (above room temp, for example) can cause memory failures. Try connecting an external monitor (pressing Fn+F7 will cycle throu...

T22 boots then dies...
Tight on cash right now, no money to get a new lappy, so trying to revive a pretty dead T22. It boots up, shows the IBM splash screen. After about 3 minutes the screen will go blank but the fan is still running. I tried to start it again and again, and it boots but takes only 30secs to go blank, to ...

T22 dead???
I have a T22 w/ PIII 900MHz/256MB RAM/40GB HD. Although a bit slow, it has been working fine until last week when it stopped working. When I press the power button, I'd see the IBM splash screen, and within a minute the screen will go blank. I couldn't even get into the BIOS. Any ideas what's wrong?...

T22 noisy
I find my T22 really noisy. Not sure if it's the noise from the fan but it's starting to drive me crazy. Are there ways to quiet it down?

WTB: Hard Drive & RAM for my T22
I am trying to hold off on buying a new laptop as long as possible. Currently I have 2x128MB in my 900MHz T22 and it's running really slow. The slow hard drive and RAM are the bottleneck so I want to upgrade them. Looking for at least a 30GB 5400RPM 2.5" hard drive and 1x or 2x 256MB or 1x 512MB (if...

Nope. Speedstep is off and I have tried all power schemes. Still 700MHz (695Mhz to be exact) in XP.BossTone74 wrote:check this thread....it's called speed stepping

Well I have installed Windows XP on the system at least 5 times with two different hard drives. And I got the same result.Orevin wrote:The speed is not hard coded in BIOS. I gues you are using WinXP. There is a thread in this T2x conference, where someone was able to fix this issue with a new OS installation.

Try updating your BIOS or tweaking with the speed settings in the BIOS. If that doesn't work, then I'd say you have the wrong CPU. I searched the IBM website but couldn't locate a BIOS update. Could you point me to the right place? Thanks! Edit: NVM, found it... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...

T22 eBay scam??
To those who have upgraded their CPUs: When you go into BIOS, does it say your new CPU speed or the old one? The reason I am asking is because I believe I got scammed by a seller on eBay. As posted in my previous thread, I bought a T22 900MHz on eBay, but I tested it and everything suggested that it...

It was actually throttling down to around 500MHz but after I turned off Speedstep it stays at 700MHz all the time. Intel Speedstep scales down the CPU to 700MHz when running on battery or in some other conditions. Turn if off (Speedstep) and see what you get. You can do this in the BIOS (this is tru...

How fast is my CPU?
I just got myself a broken T22 on eBay so that I can get the parts to fix my T20. Originally I was going to get a T20 but I thought the faster CPU in the T22 (900Mhz) and the built-in LAN would worth the higher price. So I won the auction, got the laptop, and everything looks great. I began swapping...
