Re: X230T Docking Station & Multiple Display Issue

You guys should perhaps take a look at Peter's post here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=687170#p687170 as he seems to have found a way to get two digital outputs on the dock to work ... (though, granted, he is talking about the vanilla X230 and not the T variant) Actually, as far as I ...

Re: X230T Docking Station & Multiple Display Issue

dear drblue, I just got around testing a advanced minidock seriies 3, the one with two diplay ports, two dvi ports and 6x USB 2.0. After removing some smaller platic parts which by the way is not very easy since opening the docking station to unscrew them is a pest, the x230t fits mechanically on i...

Re: X230T Docking Station & Multiple Display Issue

The X230t is not compatible to the Series 3 Mini-Docks. You have to use the UltraBase. Only the normal X230 is compatible with the normal dockings and the with the Ultrabase. ;) Dear ibthink: Thank you for your response. But I was fully aware that the Series 3 mini-docks are not compatible with X23...

X230T Docking Station & Multiple Display Issue

My X230T was shipped last week. It is a solid machine, and I am generally happy about it. But it turned out that it is quite tricky to use X230T with docking stations and multiple monitors. Before purchasing X230T, I had T410S and 2 Advanced Mini Dock Series 3 (one for office and the other for home)...

Re: Will ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 fit X230 (or X220) Tablet?

The dock is not compatible with the tablet out of the box, but can be made to fit. See here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/638559-x220-tablet-minidock-series-3-plus.html Thank you for sharing this information! This is very helpful. Will ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 fit X230 (or X220) Tablet?

I am considering to purchase an X230 Tablet. I currently have T410S and have 2 ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 docking stations. I tried to figure out whether I can use these docking stations with X230 Tablet, but couldn't get a clear answer because there are some conflicting information. X230 Tablet is...

Re: T410S Overheating with an external monitor

@Colnel O'Neill, Thank you for your advice. I have the discrete switchable model (I got mine when the discrete model first came out in U.S.). I agree that a bad driver could be a culprit. Thus I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver, but didn't see much improvement. Perhaps I am not doing this...

Re: T410S Overheating with an external monitor

@balckomegax, I think it is not true that we are not straining the GPU if we don't run 3D. Running multiple monitors do increase the payload, and as far as I understand, it could increase the temperature of the GPU. But I don't know how much increase is normal. Following your (and others') advice, I...

T410s Turning off discrete graphics & using external monitor

I've posted a topic a couple of weeks ago about the overheating problem I've been experiencing with T410s (2901CTO-discrete graphics model). Following suggestions, I cleaned up the fan, etc., but those solutions didn't really help alleviating the overheating problem. GPU still shows pretty high temp...

Re: T410S Overheating with an external monitor

Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I will try to tighten the screws around the heat sink, and blow dust out of the fan. I had to do this with my previous ThinkPad (T60). Can anyone share the temperature information for his/her T410s when it is connected with an external monitor or two (dual mon...

T410S Overheating with an external monitor

I've been experiencing an overheating problem with my T410S (with nVidia 3100M discrete graphics). CPU often goes up to 80-90, and GPU goes up to 90-100 (and sometimes beyond). Due to overheating, it shuts itself down once in a while. I've been very frustrated by this, so I've been trying to identif...

Re: Memory Choice for T410S?

The Crucial site indicates that T410s does not support dual channeling. This probably means that using a compatible memory stick isn't important, isn't it? The price for either module is pretty much the same (at Crucial.com), so the price is not much of an issue. Thanks.

Memory Choice for T410S?

I am ordering an additional memory for T410s. It came with one 2GB DDR3 PC3-8500 stick. It is my understanding that T410S accepts either DDR3 PC3-8500 or DDR3 PC3-10600. Which is a better option? I know that, if I use PC3-10600 in combination with PC3-8500, the speed of the faster chip will decrease...

Asking for Advice T410s OR T410

It is time for me to upgrade my T60, and I am contemplating between T410 and T410s. My heart is on T410s because it is thinner and more portable. However, my main concern with it is the hard drive size. I currently have 500GB hard drive, and it is almost 70% full. So, the 250GB (max) drive on T410s ...

Re: Asking Advice on T60 Temperature

As sktn77a suggested, I took apart the fan unit, and cleaned the inside of the PC using compressed air. There was not much so dust, but the air blew a fair amount. Then, I clean the thermal unit, applied Arctic Silver (for CPU; GPU units had thermal pad), and reassembled the PC. Then, I checked the ...

Re: Asking Advice on T60 Temperature

Thank you, Bostista & sktn77a. I haven't removed the entire cooling unit yet. That is on my next agenda. I ordered a tube of Arctic Silver 5, and plan to undertake the task as soon as it arrives. If that fails, I will probably replace the cooling unit. I will keep you posted. Thanks.

Asking Advice on T60 Temperature

I desperately need the advice of all the experts out there. I have a relatively old (3-year) T60. I usually upgrade my laptop every 1 1/2, but I used it a lot longer than I used to because I didn't really need a faster PC. It still functions well, but it cannot deceive its age, and began to show sig...

Access Connection does not detect WiFi After Upgrading

I recently reinstalled the Windows XP on my T60. In that process, I upgraded to Access Connection 4.52 (from 4.41).
