welp, it finally started beeping at me. I got one long and two short. Lenovo's website says that it's either the LCD assembly, the system board or a DIMM. So i tested the dimms by removing one, then the other, and switching around the slots...and i still got the same problems. I have no idea how to ...

Weird hdd/screen problems
Ok, the first time this happened was on x-mas eve. If i moved my laptop even the slighest bit the screen would go white, invert the colors and the laptop would completely freeze. I can manage to use the laptop just fine if it's resting on a table where it doesn't move at all. I narrowed the problem ...

Slackware 10.1
Give slackware a shot. I've used many different distro's in my day and i've settled on Slackware. The installation is intermediate meaning you have to partition your own drive and what not...not a big deal. After installation you'll want to download the latest kernel, compile and sym-link to the sou...

3dmark2005
For those curious about how 3dmark2005 will run on the T42 w/ a 9600, don't bother, it's a nice pretty slideshow though. After running it I got a whole 678 3dmarks, woohoo!. Doom 3 runs fine, that's all I care about.

shipped
I just received an email from shinza.com saying it was shipped yesterday, so hopefully I should have it by the end of the week. I'll defiantly post a review and some pictures of how the T42 14" fits in the medium sleeve since there is a lack of pictures to back up the reviews on this forum.

Shinza and the Zeroshock sleeve
Has anyone else had this problem recently? I ordered my zeroshock 15" medium sleeve from shinza.com on aug 26th. I know they were backordered for a while so I waited. I checked my account status and it said my sleeve was scheduled to ship on September 23rd. It is now september 28th, my credit card h...

IBM APS offers no protection when dropped?
Has anyone else tried this? Take your T42 or whichever ThinkPad you have that has APS (Active Protection System) on it and raise it up to eye level and just let it have a controlled drop. I tried this and monitored the APS real-time status screen and the HDD keeps running throughout the drop, it onl...

i was debating between the cl56, the T42, and the asus m6n non widescreen. A friend of mind bought the cl56 for 1600 bucks or so, it felt too cheap, was thicker and heavier than i wanted (6 pounds, 1.17"). I never saw an asus so i had to trust forums and from what i heard the LCD's weren't very good...

doom 3 performance
I've played doom 3 for about 7 hours on my T42 so far, and i have to say, i'm extremely impressed at how this performs. I have no trouble running it at 1024x768 in medium quality. Granted it does slow down sometimes if you have 3 enemies on the screen at once, due to the extra poly's and AI running....

same thing happened to me
when i checked my order i saw i was upgraded to 2-day shipping, but once i checked my order i noticed that i had 13 packages of different weights being shipped to South Carolina from KOWLOON BAY, HK CN(i'm in virginia), I only ordered one t42. Has anybody heard of anything like this?
