I am using both T520 and T530 on W10 without any issues for browsing, zoom, email and Word. It may be the T410 has other issues apart from the OS. But if the T430 suits you then why not go for that.
Are there any clues in Event Viewer?

Re: WTB - T61 With A 15.4 inch WideScreen
I actually do this with two T61s. If using XP this just loads and works installing correct drivers automatically. A W10 instal only shows activated in one T61 on the other one it shows not activated but still boots and works anyway. I also have a dual boot W10 SSD with an activated partition for eac...

Re: WTB - T61 With A 15.4 inch WideScreen
If you post your MTM someone can sell you a matching 15.4" T61 with either Intel graphics or NVIDIA NVS 140M or the corresponding T61p chip. That way you won't have driver issues when you repeatedly swap your hdd between them. Would that be a problem. If they have different graphics then with both ...

Re: Win 7 32 on external hd -- T450s with windows 10 inside
Try removing your internal boot disk and putting your W7 disc in the machine, if it has SATA, and select to boot from it. This will prove if its possible to boot or not.

Re: Win 7 32 on external hd -- T450s with windows 10 inside
You wont be able to boot your W7 hdd because it wont have the necessary drivers installed for your newer laptop. Options are to just plug in the hdd after W10 has booted and grab the software if you can from the old disk. You might even be able to run it without installing it, worth a try anyway. Ge...

Re: T21 XP Audio Driver?
Back in the day I used one as my daily it had Win2000 and its native audio drivers. I had moved on to T23s when XP came along. Only way I could suggest for audio with XP on T21 is to use ASIO4All drivers and get digital sound from usb into an external analog/digital converter into some powered speak...

Its a good idea for those older Thinkpads to format the HDD in the same machine using DOS. That way you know that the bios is happy with the way its formatted.
Sounds a bit like the mobo to me though.

Trying to think back to what I used in W98 days. I think it was EAC, ExactAudioCopy with mp3 and possibly flac and lame plugins. Then there was Musicmatch Jukebox and then there was Sound Forge.

Re: T23 Video Driver error on Win98
I dug out a T23 and found an old powerquest drive image and after going through several old HDDs finally found one which would accept restoring the image. It would only boot to safe mode where I was able to see the video drivers. Have you tried booting into safe mode to see if the display is normal ...

Re: CLEAN WINDOWS REINSTALL MISERY
Not sure if this has been resolved but USB keys can be either mbr or uefi boot and will not boot in the wrong system unless they are created for both types which the windows media tool does now. But in the T5XX set the bios Startup uefi/legacy boot to BOTH and it will boot from either type.

There is no guarantee that the T530 frame will fit and align properly in the 520. If so then a base is needed too also the webcam might not be compatible. There are potentially too many parts to change compared economically to just buying a T530 and selling on the 520. The price of T530s seems to ha...

Thanks guys. My main motivation is to get USB3 into my T520 as the 34mm slot does not work any more. I used to have a USB3 card in there. So if I am going to change the mobo then a T530 would be a step up and give me usb3 natively. OK the display ports are different but the 530 mini port is smaller ...

I am on a roll here after having put 2004 on an Acer I upgraded my T520 to 2004 from 1809. Once again it went smoothly and even more surprisingly every thing works.
Having seen the long list from MS of the issues I am very relieved and pleased too that I don't need to roll back.

Yep. Just put a fresh copy of windows 2004 on an ACER laptop on a new SSD. Seems to work ok. The downloading is getting better. Its direct from Msoft and 32 and 64bit together on the same USB it just needed an ei.cfg file to get the correct Home version installed and activated.

Re: Inacessible Boot Device - cant copy encrypted data HELP
Three thoughts to try. First create a disk image as a backup. 1. Create a bootable win2usb on a usb key then see if you can grab the data. 2. Use a partition manager to create a new partition on your system disk. Then instal Win10 on the blank partition without deleting or overwriting your current s...

The IDE to mSATA adapter and mSATA card will be here next week. If it doesn’t work then I’m only out $20 and I can put the mSATA card in my X220. Worth a try at that price. I used this very setup with a Plextor mSata in a T23 using XP and also W7 (experimentally). It certainly sped the T23 up quite...

Re: a new age for my frankenpad T601 X9000, w7 pro to W10 pro
Probably a bit late to help but I find that W10 loads its own drivers and that is all that is necessary. I steer clear of ThinkVantage bloatware and use iobit's DriverBooster if I want to check for later drivers. I have loaded the W7 video drivers in the past to try and improve the VGA resolution an...

What I do when I am in a situation like yours is first to turn off firewall and AV to see if they are interfering. Its always worth trying another browser as RBS says. Or if I suspect a drivers issue and get desperate enough I run Driver Booster, the free version, as this will always find some later...

I can supply a W98SE cd if you need it . Getting an optical mouse to work on W98 should be easy unless your mouse is of a recent vintage.
Or just put XP on it it is a much more stable OS on the T2x or indeed anything.

You might be able to load the manufacturers W98 drivers for the mouse if it is a branded one, Logitech for example supplied W98 drivers at the time.

Apart form the LED behaviour it sounds like it could be the HDD at end of life. You could read the SMART date for clues or boot from a Linux CD to prove the hardware is working.
