Re: Color Laser printer suggestions
Sorry for being late to the party... I've had an HP LaserJet 200 Color MFP for a couple of years. Works great. Takes a few seconds to warm up and is a little bit noisy (compared to an inkjet) but it's been fast and reliable. Like you, I had an inkjet (HP Business Inkjet 1100d) but with only occasion...

Re: Data only plan suggestions
If you're stuck with using the AT&T network, then I'd suggest going to their web site or local store to find out what types of plans that they offer. I can tell you about my recent experiences since I use them for cell service and have had four different dedicated hotspots (none AT&T) in the past. I...

Re: Existing T30 HDD/XP-install into "new"/used T30?
Ann, I don't believe that the various models of T30 made over the years changed either the Intel chipset or the video controller on the motherboard. Those two hardware subsystems are the main sources of problems when transferring a hard drive from one model type to another. What you may end up chang...

Re: What ThinkPad has these specs?
All I'm finding on ebay is the 1600x900 version of the T440s. Strange. Maybe you are too restrictive in your search (i.e., setting price point too low). I was able to find a couple of systems using this search string: (thinkpad, lenovo) (t440p,t440s) (fhd,1920) Note that this search also finds the F...

Re: What ThinkPad has these specs?
Welcome to thinkpads.com! I don't know off the top of my head which is the oldest 14" FHD system, but you can do a Google search and come up with: - Thinkpad T460s (2016 model) You can also go to the PSREF (Personal Systems Reference) area at Lenovo and download a bunch of .PDFs and search yourself:...

Re: Ripping my DVD/Blu-Rays to a external Drive
I believe that one of the major problems with trying to connect an external hard drive via the Blu-ray player's USB port is that it may lack the necessary power (i.e., maximum current capability) for the HD. I suggest contacting Sony's technical support, reading your product's manual or posting the ...

Re: Mixing different size of 72-pin EDO SO-DIMM ( Laptop memory RAM ) ?
Mixing memory sizes? You should be able to freely mix-and-match memory module capacity, up to any system/firmware maximum size limitation. I do not recall there being any requirement for "matched sets" in those days. In some cases you may need to use one socket before the other, or in other cases, p...

Sorry for wasting your time. I verified the disk drive and memory in my X31 but still am running into the "load disk 1" problem. If/when you get the retail copy of Windows XP installed, come back here and click on the Drivers link at the top of any page, navigate to the X31 and download what you need.

So I finally found one of my X31 systems and attempted to do a full recovery. Procedure appears to go correctly up until the sixth disk is loaded and a request to reboot the system is executed. Re: My Internet Connection *PIC*
As far as I know, you can't get a data plan (mobile hotspot, not smartphone) from anyone that's pay-as-you-use-it. As I mentioned earlier in this thread (2+ years ago) there is Internet-on-the-Go (http://www.internet-go.com/ ) which works similar to TracFone; you buy X GB of data for a fixed cost a...

Have used a W520 to create .ISO files from all six CDs. This time the R&R (41A4007) disk matches what I did for the X41 set a couple of years ago. I've started creating the .ISO files and have run into a slight problem with the second Product Recovery CD. I can think of two options: 1) Obtain an Ultrabase Series 3 https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/migr-76765 Be sure it includes a DVD drive in the Ultrabay. Welcome to thinkpads.com! I believe that there is a plastic latch inside the drive that keeps the tray closed, although it's been some time since I opened one up. My take is that it is easier to replace the entire unit. You could upgrade to a CD-RW/DVD drive (writes CD-R or CD-RW, in addition to rea...

Re: T22 Error 0175/Bad CRC1. Looking for an eeprom dump.
I've tried to edit my current eeprom by comparing with an uncorrupted eeprom from a Thinkpad A21 but with no success If you truly tried to use an A21 EEPROM dump to revive your T22, then I think that's your problem. I believe that the systems are too different to share BIOS firmware. If on the othe...

Am I to assume that you have a way of re-programming the EEPROM while it's still in circuit, or are you attempting to do this with it removed from the motherboard?

Here's my take on this, from years (decades, even) of a memory test engineering background. Given that the memory clock speed is kept constant in Thinkpads (I'm assuming that all current and past designs do NOT adjust their clock speed when presented with memory modules that have a higher speed rati...

The first reference that comes up with a "intel t7600 cpu pinout" Google search is this:
http://download.intel.com/design/mobile ... 407804.pdf
Section 4 lists the pinout, although there does not seem to be any documentation about undervolting (done by searching the .PDF).

The T410s was also used occasionally for the same purpose. Slightly OT: Tonight on Hawaii Five-0 (Season 8 Episode 7), near the end of the show, there was a ColorWare T410s shown. Had the usual Windows logo on the lid and the ColorWare printing above the left hinge (slightly out of focus on my scre...
