Re: What config T430 is this please?

I'm not sure as I don't peruse the 'bay for Tx30 systems. USD$200 doesn't seem too bad for an i5 system with 4GB memory and 128GB SSD. My personal limit has been with W520 systems (prefer the 7-row keyboard) with 1920x1080 screens. The ones in my hands were purchased for just over USD$200 and came w...

Funny that my post from almost 7 years ago helped with your problem, although the beep code seems to be different. Still have that X60 sitting on my dining room table but now it has been basically replaced by a W520; haven't used it in about two months.

Re: Replaceable fuse inside the 170w power supply?

While substituting the resistor inside the connector is a means to fool the laptop into thinking it is connected to a different (usually, higher power) AC adapter, I would NOT recommend doing this. The adapter may not be able to supply enough current to charge the battery and operate the computer at...

Re: Removing password from a 360C?

Power-on passwords can generally be removed by taking out the CMOS (aka, backup) battery. Some of the older systems also relied on inserting a jumper. This has been published in most HMMs. However, if there is also a supervisor password enabled at the same time, this can "brick" the system as it wou...

Getting a little off topic... Thanks for the schematics. How do these things actually surface? It appears even Lenovo doesn't repair motherboards, only replace them if something goes wrong. So the motivation for them to supply schematics to anyone would seem rather small. There are several online se...

Re: X230 Users...my X230 doesn't like my 16gb G.Skill memory kit

Just ran into this thread; sorry for being late to the game.... X230 uses Intel HD Graphics 4000. It is an "integrated" processor meaning it shares the memory it uses for display(s) with main memory. In other words, there's no separate bank of memory dedicated for video usage; memory is allocated fo...

^ +1 @D L Davis : Reading your title to this thread can be interpreted in two ways. If you intend / thought that using an SD card for extending the amount of main memory , that is, memory that would be used by Windows to run programs from, then no it doesn't work that way. On the other hand, if you ...

Re: Questions about DIY antenna installation

LTE means cellular frequencies. In the US, depending upon which carrier you are using, that means 700/850/1700/1900/2500Mhz. Netherlands cellular appears to use 800/900/1800/2100/2600Mhz. WLAN (WiFi) means 802.11 frequencies which covers 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. So, if you are lucky enough to be using...

Re: Where can I get a good battery for my T60p?

I would not recommend a personal re-cell operation. There's many things that can go wrong if not done perfectly right. As you note, solder tabs that are already pre-welded onto the battery terminals are good for minimizing the inherent danger in overheating Li-ion cells if one attempts to solder wir...

Re: Thinkpad 365XD left and right clicker button repair

I think that the suggestion to consult the HMM was more along the lines of helping you to replace the entire keyboard, as opposed to figuring out how to 'open' it up for a repair. It may be possible to pry off the keycaps (buttons) and see if there's anything underneath which may be interfering with...

You are correct to say that the 2628-P1U did not come with built-in wireless. Changing any of the RFID wireless settings in BIOS should not affect the ethernet connection. My understanding is that RFID is used by companies as an asset management tool. It allows tracking of the laptop if/when it goes...

Assume you to mean "quirks", not "quarks". One is a strange or peculiar trait, while the other is a tiny particle of matter. If the system in truly in hibernation, then the only thing that should wake it up is pressing the power button. However, if the system is in standby mode, then lifting the lid...
