Re: T440p BIOS Password

I have not ever attempted to execute that program (SRSETUP for UEFI version) before. So this is just going by what I read in the associated README file: It appears that this utility will read out the Supervisor password of a target machine so that the password may also be applied to other laptop(s) ...

Re: Thermal Paste Question

The main reason why thermal paste would "wear out" if left unused is if it's been exposed to a large amount of air over a long time. The silver particles in the paste do not break down but the moisture does go away, leaving it like it's been used on a CPU/heatsink. At least that's my opinion. I equa...

Re: does ide dvd caddy to ide 3.5 exist?

If you are asking if there is an Ultrabay caddy/adapter which replaces a DVD drive with one which can connect a standard 3.5" (desktop; 40 pin) IDE hard drive, then I would say "no" as I have never heard of or seen one.

Re: Which ThinkPads come with a WWAN card

I believe it's the same situation when dealing with a locked cellular phone. In order to unlock the WWAN card from the Verizon network, you would have to contact Verizon and give them the IMEI number (at least). That number should be printed on the card.

Re: Startup diskette for a 760C

Diskette animation means that the system did not find any bootable operating system. Assuming that the 760C still has a hard drive inside, then it's possibly dead. Could also mean that the BIOS is not looking at it. Assuming that the Ultrabay has the floppy drive inside, I'd try booting any diskette...

I don't remember the details: is there a chance that I can get permanently locked out of the PC if the CMOS battery dies with the power-on password set? Or is it only with a supervisor password? Only the Supervisor (BIOS) password. Removing the CMOS battery will disable (remove) any power-on passwo...

Don't have any specific details on the T470, but traditionally the display fuse has been located next to connector where the ribbon cable from the lid attaches to the motherboard.

Fuses on the motherboard should be identified by the letter "F", followed by a number. It will be printed on the board very close to the actual part. Re: Swapping X61 motherboards

Looking at the X61 HMM there's several different bases (lower case assembly) called out. The only difference may be in the model type (M/T) label that's provided. If your two X61 systems share the same basic model type, the first four digits, then I'd say you're golden. If they are not the same mode...

If I do that it's supposed to magnetize the nanobots. And that's bad.

To answer your query: yes, in both CW and CCW directions. With either hand.

Short and sweet.... Got my first Moderna shot Friday night at a local pharmacy. So far the expected sore arm is all I can report. Can't feel the nanobots / microchips inside me reporting back to Uncle Bill (or is that the cause of the sore arm????). Scheduled to get the second shot in exactly 4 weeks.

Re: ThinkPad Hardware replacement

Things like port covers for the much older Thinkpads (600 series and before) probably can't be 3D printed, mainly due to those pieces having flexible rubber "hinges". It's the real reason why the covers are now missing; over time the rubber degrades and eventually breaks. The hard plastic covers the...
