Not sure if this will help for a 701C, but I did this chart for 600X 301 errors: http://www.kawakami-ca.com/ibm_600x/301errors/

@Dancorp: I had a similar boot error code awhile back but on an X60. See here: /viewtopic.php?t=90116

TL;DR: Try removing all memory modules and put a different sized one in a single slot and see what happens. For your system, I believe you'll have to use Slot 0.

Re: Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years

It's one of the built-in Windows tools that I've consistently used since 3.1. Grabbing screen shots and quickly cropping or re-sizing them, annotating images (with circles, arrows and paragraphs), changing image formats (with later versions of the program) and when the kids were little, using it as ...

Since this thread got a bump, I might as well throw my $0.02 in... The work A31p was retired several months ago in favor of a W520 running W7. The screen was getting dimmer over the last couple of months and finally gave up. This unit had been schlepped to and from work for many years. Always powere...

Assuming that you are trying to power up the system using the supplied keyboard, and further assuming that the keyboard is bad, then you could still have a good system. I would either swap in a known good keyboard (or put your T510i keyboard onto a known good system) OR attach the laptop to a port r...

Welcome to thinkpads.com! Intermittent/flickering backlight, aka CCFL, on a system as old as a T30, most likely is due to a bad bulb. If the wonky lighting is also accompanied by a pink/reddish tint, then definitely that's the answer. Although it is possible to swap out the backlight, I'd recommend ...

It's possible. It's also possible that the main fuse has burned out. It's also possible that the keyboard connector has been detached from the motherboard, thus preventing the power button to function. It's also possible that there's some major problem with the motherboard (blown out MOSFETs, for on...

The second (beige) optical must be quite old or unique to have an analog volume dial and headphone jack. I'd vote for quite old. From looking through some of the old PSREF documents, the T530 w/Nvidia should have shipped with a 90W supply. If in doubt, consult the large label on the bottom of the machine and see what it says after the 20V ---. There should be a current rating, in amps (A). Multiply that current number by 20 a...

I'm not sure as I don't peruse the 'bay for Tx30 systems. USD$200 doesn't seem too bad for an i5 system with 4GB memory and 128GB SSD. My personal limit has been with W520 systems (prefer the 7-row keyboard) with 1920x1080 screens. The ones in my hands were purchased for just over USD$200 and came w...

Re: Replaceable fuse inside the 170w power supply?

While substituting the resistor inside the connector is a means to fool the laptop into thinking it is connected to a different (usually, higher power) AC adapter, I would NOT recommend doing this. The adapter may not be able to supply enough current to charge the battery and operate the computer at...

Re: Removing password from a 360C?

Power-on passwords can generally be removed by taking out the CMOS (aka, backup) battery. Some of the older systems also relied on inserting a jumper. This has been published in most HMMs. However, if there is also a supervisor password enabled at the same time, this can "brick" the system as it wou...

Just ran into this thread; sorry for being late to the game.... X230 uses Intel HD Graphics 4000. It is an "integrated" processor meaning it shares the memory it uses for display(s) with main memory. Re: Questions about DIY antenna installation

LTE means cellular frequencies. In the US, depending upon which carrier you are using, that means 700/850/1700/1900/2500Mhz. Netherlands cellular appears to use 800/900/1800/2100/2600Mhz. WLAN (WiFi) means 802.11 frequencies which covers 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. So, if you are lucky enough to be using...
