Re: Ripping my DVD/Blu-Rays to a external Drive

I believe that one of the major problems with trying to connect an external hard drive via the Blu-ray player's USB port is that it may lack the necessary power (i.e., maximum current capability) for the HD. I suggest contacting Sony's technical support, reading your product's manual or posting the ...

Re: Mixing different size of 72-pin EDO SO-DIMM ( Laptop memory RAM ) ?

Mixing memory sizes? You should be able to freely mix-and-match memory module capacity, up to any system/firmware maximum size limitation. I do not recall there being any requirement for "matched sets" in those days. In some cases you may need to use one socket before the other, or in other cases, p...

Re: X31 Recovery CD's Needed

Sorry for wasting your time. I verified the disk drive and memory in my X31 but still am running into the "load disk 1" problem. If/when you get the retail copy of Windows XP installed, come back here and click on the Drivers link at the top of any page, navigate to the X31 and download what you need.

Re: X31 Recovery CD's Needed

So I finally found one of my X31 systems and attempted to do a full recovery. Procedure appears to go correctly up until the sixth disk is loaded and a request to reboot the system is executed. The system then asks for a Supplemental disk, which I do not have so I click on "No", then the recovery op...

Re: X31 Recovery CD's Needed

Unfortunately I have no experience attempting to execute the restore operation from a USB connected hard or flash drive with copies of the ISO files on it. All my recoveries are done by burning the ISOs onto blank optical disks and proceeding from there. For this X31 set, you should be booting the s...

As far as I know, you can't get a data plan (mobile hotspot, not smartphone) from anyone that's pay-as-you-use-it. As I mentioned earlier in this thread (2+ years ago) there is Internet-on-the-Go (http://www.internet-go.com/ ) which works similar to TracFone; you buy X GB of data for a fixed cost a...

Re: X31 Recovery CD's Needed

Have used a W520 to create .ISO files from all six CDs. This time the R&R (41A4007) disk matches what I did for the X41 set a couple of years ago. I'm in the process of uploading them to my FTP site and will let you know when I've verified all of them. Was delayed a little bit today due to a lost of...

I've started creating the .ISO files and have run into a slight problem with the second Product Recovery CD. I can think of two options: 1) Obtain an Ultrabase Series 3 https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/migr-76765 Be sure it includes a DVD drive in the Ultrabay. They can be had for about $30 on eBay. 2) Try using a portable (external) DVD drive connected via USB Either case would need the appropri...

Re: T23 DVD-drive assembly pictures ? Won't close.

Welcome to thinkpads.com! I believe that there is a plastic latch inside the drive that keeps the tray closed, although it's been some time since I opened one up. My take is that it is easier to replace the entire unit. You could upgrade to a CD-RW/DVD drive (writes CD-R or CD-RW, in addition to rea...

Re: T22 Error 0175/Bad CRC1. Looking for an eeprom dump.

I've tried to edit my current eeprom by comparing with an uncorrupted eeprom from a Thinkpad A21 but with no success If you truly tried to use an A21 EEPROM dump to revive your T22, then I think that's your problem. I believe that the systems are too different to share BIOS firmware. If on the othe...

Am I to assume that you have a way of re-programming the EEPROM while it's still in circuit, or are you attempting to do this with it removed from the motherboard?

Here's my take on this, from years (decades, even) of a memory test engineering background. Given that the memory clock speed is kept constant in Thinkpads (I'm assuming that all current and past designs do NOT adjust their clock speed when presented with memory modules that have a higher speed rati...

The first reference that comes up with a "intel t7600 cpu pinout" Google search is this:

http://download.intel.com/design/mobile ... 407804.pdf

Section 4 lists the pinout, although there does not seem to be any documentation about undervolting (done by searching the .PDF).

The T410s was also used occasionally for the same purpose. Slightly OT: Tonight on Hawaii Five-0 (Season 8 Episode 7), near the end of the show, there was a ColorWare T410s shown. Re: Pentium 4-M stuck at 1.2 GHz

To be clear, what system are we talking about here? T2x cannot implement P4 so I'm assuming that you are doing this on a T30. If so, then it's likely that the missing (dead) battery is preventing the system from running at full speed. Try installing a known good battery and re-measure the system spe...

The photo of the battery (#2 in series of 4) shows an 8-cell design. You can tell by the fact that it sticks out from the laptop all of the way across the back side. Re: 15,1" T60p with non-IPS display?

I'd lean toward the MTM lookup being correct. If the system has a T60p nameplate on the bezel, then it's possible that somebody either swapped the entire lid assembly, or slapped on the wrong clear plate (the plastic strip over the indicator LEDs).

If you can't find the RJ45 jack on Digikey, then try Mouser.com. I'm presuming that you can successfully extract a multi-pin ethernet connector from a motherboard if you're looking for a replacement part. The danger doing that is that when you are removing the jack you cause some damage to the mothe...
