Temperature readings using Vista
I'm running just the Vista RC2 on my Thinkpad X60 and am wondering if there is a program to read the temperature that works in Vista. Thanks for any guidance.

Re: X60 and MacBook
Does NHC run on Vista? That sounds good to make it run cooler and without as much fan activity. [quote="tomh009"][quote="TP60"]Fan noise: The MacBook fan rarely runs, so it is a very quiet computer. The ThinkPad goes on and off, and with Vista stays on more. It has not shut off this morning at all (...

X60 and MacBook
I actually have been using Macs principally for a few years now, and I really prefer the Mac OS X system for many reasons. However, the limited hardware choices have always been a bother of sorts. For awhile, I was using a 12" PowerBook, which at 4.6 pounds was a little too heavy but tolerable. Over...

Yes, that was it! I used Partition Manager, found the free space, and was able to make it an active partition that reclaimed the missing 17GB. I cannot seem to merge the two active partitions because the IBM_Service is in between and I assume cannot be moved on the disk. But that's fine anyway, sinc...

James, Yes, it's a 60GB HDD. I am using a little under 14GB for programs and documents. I even have gone into device manager to make sure no gremlins came in and replaced it! The drive properties show it has 57.224 GB capacity, but the volumes as simply IBM_PRELOAD as 34.891 GB and the IBM_SERVICE a...

Hard disk size reported in My Computer
I have been using Macs for most of the past several years, but now am back using a Thinkpad X60. I'm sure there is a simple explanation for the listing of hard disk size. The 60GB hard disk is reporting a total size of 34GB instead of something closer to 55GB. Can there be something like a hidden pa...

Thinkpad and MacBook
I actually use a MacBook and a Thinkpad X60. They are different machines in many dimensions and the choice is very individual. 1. The Thinkpad is much lighter -- 2.05 pounds -- and feels featherweight compared to the MacBook. The difference would be less, but still substantial, with the eight hour b...

It seems to be just the trackpoint and not the keys. The trackpoint itself does rest a bit higher than the keys and does not push down any further. The SofPoint looks interesting, although very much like the cap that came with the Thinkpad. I am pretty careful in not stressing the computer, although...

Screen gets smudged
I just received a new Thinkpad X60 a couple of weeks ago and am very pleased with it. However, I am noticing that the trackpoint seems to make a smudge mark on my screen. (One can tell by its placement and the crosshatch pattern it makes.) Is this normal? Do I need to frequently wipe off the trackpo...
