Thanks for the reply - I just wanted to update the people on the status. I didn't see a wireless card on that website, even though there is a wireless card installed in the laptop. I used SiSoftware Sandra to look at the ID number of the wireless card, and it definately says it is only ABG (without ...

Atheros A/B/G/N Card Identification
Hi everyone, I have (maybe had) an Atheros ABGN wireless card. I had to send my laptop in for service, because I was getting "NMI: Parity check error" BSOD when on wireless. I just got my machine back today and it says that they replaced the "Non planar / non modem PCB". (I assume this is the wirele...

Once you boot from the upgrade DVD you get the option of doing a clean install. After that it does not matter if you do it on a formatted hard drive or a drive with an existing windows on it, Vista will overwrite. The only difference is that Vista will create Windows.old folder which saves files fr...

You don't even need to do this. I installed a clean install of Vista with the express upgrade disc on a completely formatted harddrive and it worked fine.chaukap wrote:You CAN do a clean/fresh install of Vista from the upgrade DVD you have.

No, you have to install a driver for the card. You can either goto the Lenovo website to download the driver, or it also comes through windows update. If you don't have a wired connection you can plug into, download the driver before you install Vista and store it on a USB drive or something like th...

Sorry for the double post but the question is completly different... does anyone know if this DVD actually does contain all the versions of vista? I ask because I have an extra vista ultimate key that came with a RC2 version (given out at a MS launch event) but it is a full, no expiring, ultimate k...

Okay, I have a few things to say about the previous posts. First, I think that the install key should install the x64 version if you have the media. My basis for this is that I have Vista Ultimate Retail and it has both 32-bit and 64-bit dvds, yet there is only one key. Although, this could be for o...

I just got my DVD. It is just a black/white lenovo disc. No box or book. Does anyone know if this "upgrade" disc can install vista cleanly, not requiring a previous XP install? Since there were reports at the retail upgrade disc needs XP to be installed first. Edit: Mexp is "MailExpress", nothing re...

It had been "COA/POP Validated" for a long time. Then just recently it changed (I only noticed that it changed on Sunday) to "Order is approved" and then it changed to the shipped status today.dhave wrote:To ease my mind a bit, do you remember what the "Order Status" was just prior to "Order is shipped"?

I got notification that my order shipped Wednesday 7 March and received it from the courier on afternoon of Friday 9 March. Now to try the upgrade process. What did they ship you? I guess I'm not alone. I originally submitted the form on December 7th (the day I got the computer). I mailed it in through the postal service because I didn't realize that it could be emailed. From day one it said "order confirmed" (or something like that) under the order status. On Friday (Jan 19t...

Although I have an Atheros 11n card, I don't see the option of choosing the wireless mode of 802.11n perhaps because AC does not dectect 11n router in my network and does not offer this option. My point is that one might get different wirless mode and encryption options depending upon their enviren...

Using TTLS and PAP with Access Connections
My school uses 802.1x Authentication with TTLS and PAP. I'm not a wireless encryption expert, so I don't exactly know what these things do and how they are different from WPA or WEP. My question is, is it possible to use Access Connections to connect to this wireless network? They provide a client t...

ThinkVantage Access Connections isn't working
I just recently got a thinkpad T60 earlier this month, and I have a question that has been bothering me. The Access Connections (AC) wireless connection program that comes with the Thinkpad no longer works for me. It used to connect fine. But then, when I was connected, I clicked on the AC icon and ...
