Strange LCD/Video issue?

My trusty Thinkpad T61 (6549-TCO) has developed a peculiar issue. When I power it on, the back light will be on, but no image on the LCD. No error codes at boot up. Once I see the HD light stop flashing, I can use terminal services and connect/use it. If I connect an external monitor, it stays blank...

Re: Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

Just wanted to follow up... I ended up getting a Lenovo battery from Amazon, from seller AlienFactory... It was on sale and had prime shipping, so I only paid about $12 more than the Anker battery. Checking Amazon now, clicking "by again" has it from different sellers, for a higher price and no prim...

Re: Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

Anker is refunding my money once I sent the battery back. I'll try and find a reasonably priced real Lenovo battery. This T61 does everything I *need* it to do, my desktop does the rest. And to be honest, I''m not sure what I would get to replace it. I love the track point setup, and the size and re...

Re: Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

Adjusting the thresholds is going to be my final step. With this latest go around with support, Anker replaced the 6600mAh 71Wh battery I purchased with a 7800mAh 84Wh. (I think they are trying to get me up to a 5 star review on their Amazon listing). So changing the thresholds, it will still last l...

Re: Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

I had a similar situation as you. I got a 9 cell Banker battery for my t61 and it would randomly power off. They sent me a 2nd one, which did the same, even in my t60. Will not be going back to anker. These Ankers have only cut out at 7%. never before. never randomly. In any case, what battery did ...

Re: Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

Reserve power is under Alarms in the power scheme. I thought of that possibly being it after posing, so I set reserver power to 0%. it still acted the same, power off at 7%. I also found out that while my Lenovo Power Manger driver is v1.67.09.03, which is current, the Power Manager app is now appar...

Aftermarket battery powers off at 7%?

I needed a new battery for my aging T61. With the Lenovo batteries topping $100, I took a chance on a Anker battery for about half or even less than half of that I seen Lenovo batteries. I've had great luck with Anker in the past using their external battery packs for Cell Phones/USB devices, as wel...

Re: T61 (6459-CT0) poor network range/performance?

Did you try reversing the Main and Aux antenna wires on the card? No, I haven't. Do you think that could help? I did make sure the two were connected to the card. And because of how the wires are shaped, and their lengths, it appears they are connected to the "correct" terminals. I'm really wonderi...

T61 (6459-CT0) poor network range/performance?

hi, I have a T61 (6459-CT0) that was my late brother's. It has a built in Intel 3945ABG card from when it was purchased new. Unless I'm in the same room as the router, signal strength and connection speed are usually reported 1/2 of what my other laptops give me (T41 and T60, both with Intel cards t...

Thank you both for the information and suggestions... Reloading the OS on a T61... Vista? or XP?

My brother passed away and I now have his Thinkpad T61 (6459-CTO, 2.5Ghz, 2gig ram, 160gig 7200 rpm, bluetooth, firewire, A/B/G wireless, Gigabit ethernet, etc). I don't want to touch his HD, I want to leave it intact... So I purchased a new 320gig WD Black sata drive and now need to load an OS. His...

help deciding what to get?

I currently have a T41 that is dying... and i need to replace it... But I'm not sure what to get as a replacement. Work has issued me a T60 (1951-A31), 1.6Ghz Core Solo with 11a/b/g wifi, bluetooth, 60gig hard drive, 1gig ram, 1400x1050 display, DVD-RW drive, etc.. and it works well... I do have a s...

I figured it wouldn't fit for "permanent mounting"

was more conserned with temporary for data recovery before we send the drive out for warranty replacement...

that other device you suggested looks good too!! Nice find!!

Thank you!!!

2.5" Sata HD connector same as that for desktop?

Sorry for such a noobie question... I know there is the ultrabay adapter to put a SATA drive into as a 2nd drive... But I'm looking for an alternate solution to recover data when necessary... Is the SATA connector on the 2.5" drives the same as on 3.5" Desktop SATA drives? In other words, would some...
