Re: X6x CMOS battery wiring

good discussion. Two additional ideas:
1. if the yellow plastic is removed carefully, it can be replaced
perhaps with a bit of tape
2. soldering is OK, with a bit of flux on the battery, and a very
hot iron.

a supplementary idea, not very expensive, is to get
another router, put it in "bridge mode" in your wife's
office, and use that to amplify the signal.

my setup has 3 linksys wrt54g's taking the signal from one
to another (the house is l.o.n.g:-) Firmware is DD-WRT.

cliff, welcome to the forum if I understand correctly, you have 2 problems: 1. to boot from the 250 SSD's existing linux installation 2. to repartition/install something else on it as to 2., I have no idea. But as to 1., I suspect the /etc/fstab file on the SSD is no longer correct. It used to speci...

Re: WTB: 13.7" 770X or 770Z

hi scott,

I have a 9549-8BU with which I am willing to part. I just
booted it up, first time in 8 years. Seems to work good.

a vertical blue line disfigures the screen, depending on your
plans for it, this may not matter.

thanks,
tom

intellistation M pro 6225 memory capacity

I have an "intellistation M pro 6225-CTO"
HMM memory specs call for PC2-3200 ECC DIMMs

In 2005 max was 1GB, but now 2GB seems to be
available--physically same size, but double
row of chips instead of single.

will these 2GBers serve as memory in my machine?

thanks

debian, without the GUI interface: I use "fvwm2" as window

Re: What do you do with Linux?

I've been using Linux since the old days of kernel 12c in 1991. The graceful power is appealing, of hooking together the special purpose programs sed, grep, awk and the rest, for data/text processing. and of course there's always "(g)cc" for heavy duty work. as time went by, more and more utilities ...

Re: light linux distribution for P4-M 2.0?

my suggestion is, avoid the GUIs entirely, for they are resource wasting hogs that are in no event necessary. Just recently I installed Debian "jessie" on an a22p, no problem: when the installer gets to the "Install Additional Software" stage, I un-x the GUI alternative, and proceed with 452 additio...
