Re: CD burning on T60P

The MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings suite is an official offer from Lenovo to ThinkPad user (included in official recovery discs too). It is reliable (according my experience), free (on thinkpad only), and can certainly burn ISO files. Although there are many other choices, why not try somethi...

Re: CD burning on T60P

I recommend official "MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings" for burning all types of discs in ThinkPad.

Error: This USB Device Can Perform Faster if Connected to...

“This USB Device can Perform Faster if Connected to Hi Speed USB 2.0 Port?” This is a common error message when some ThinkPad users connect a USB device to their T6x, T4x laptops etc. Someone said it's a hardware problem, hence you need to replace the motherboard to fix it; others said it is due to...

IMO, that marginal performance boost still accounts for user experience improvement in Vista and Win7 systems (not including XP, because even T2400 is fast enough). My upgrade steps are T2400->T5600>T7400->T7600. My experience is T2400->T5600 no big difference T5600->T7400 big difference T7400->T760...

This validates the recovery set made in (1).
Why not just make copies of the set made in (1)? :)

Any DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (also known as "PC5300" or "PC2-5300") SODIMM will work just fine. It's like buying salt! Any non-defective memory strip that has the proper specs will work. +1. X61s weird fan error

My friend bought a second hand working X61s and and asked me to help verify its spec. I removed the keyboard and upper case (palmrest) to take a look inside of it. This X61s comes with wireless WAN, so it has a small fan near the speaker. But the small fan was not connected. So I thought someone mus...

From my experience both fake and genuine sata 2nd hdd adapters could have problem with some drivers ( 2102 error ), especially Seagate, Fujitsu (it seems genuine one does not have problem with Hitachi). However, I can at least predict the behaviour of a genuine one and a cold reboot will make all pr...

The two fans in my ThinkPad Advanced dock were running very quietly until I installed a graphics card into it. Now they are runing madly and the noise is really unbearable. I know from RonS's mini review that one can safely cut the wire to stop the main fan. But I was wondering if we can find a soft...

Probably something inside the hinge. Alternatively, you may press Fn+F12 to turn ThinkPad into hibernation if closing the lid does not work any longer.

You may also consider memory issue. When your t60p runs, turn it into hibernation and then reboot. If you immediately see blue screen, you got bad memory stick.

Re: Dedicating DVRAM

It is not possible in ThinkPads. But I think it is better to let OS decide how much VRAM should be allocated than reserve a fixed amount in BIOS. If the VRAM bothers you, try to add more ram (X61/s/t supports up to 8GB).

It is not a hardware problem because I noticed the same things happened a few times on my T60p before. Normally it happens when my T60p is back from hibernation or is placed on the docking station. Reboot will make everything back to normal. I believe it is a problem caused by ATI drive not working ...
