Re: Replacement for T60. 7-Row Kbd Please
Look for ThinkPad T4 20 , T4 20 s, T5 20 , X2 20 etc etc... You get the idea. Not ThinkPad Edge, though. The Edge **20 series does have the 6-row island-style keyboard. Sorry to bug you again, but I want to be sure before I order one. On Lenovo's outlet site, the images for the T520 and o...

Re: Replacement for T60. 7-Row Kbd Please
Any T/X/R/W series up to excluding the recent Ivy Bridge models (**30 series) will have a 7-row keyboard. Many of the Sandy Bridge models (**20 series) can still be bought. For 4:3 screen however you are stuck with T/R/X61 models which are barely newer than your T60. Thanks, that sounds promising. ...

Re: Replacement for T60. 7-Row Kbd Please
If your space bar problem is intermittent, check for dirt or debris under the bar. I had a T23 with a space bar that occasionally didn't work while typing. Upon closer inspection I found a piece of red plastic from the track point cover floating around under it. Hi Dale, Thanks for the tip. I shoul...

Replacement for T60. 7-Row Kbd Please
The spacebar on my T60's keyboard has started missing, and even though I know the keyboard's a cheap & easy replacement, this may be what pushes me onto a new machine. I see Lenovo has quit making the 7-row keyboard which was one of the Thinkpad's most attractive features for me. The other thing tha...

Re: Strange Intermittent Clicks Below Letter "K"
I'd say that is a fan out of 'whack', clicking louder when spinning faster Try another fan. But the new sound comes from the other side of the computer. I got all-too-well-acquainted with fan noise before I replaced my defective one, so I'm pretty confident this isn't a fan. I popped the DVD drive ...

Strange Intermittent Clicks Below Letter "K"
My T60 2613-CTO has developed a strange new noise since I replaced its cooling fan a few weeks ago. It's making intermittent clicks. The clicks come in clusters, lasting maybe ten or twenty seconds, with periods of at least a few minutes between clusters. During one of these clusters, the clicks ave...

Re: Replacement Fan for T60 2613-CTO
Sounds like the voice of authority. Thanks! Maybe you can give me a tip, too, if it's not too much trouble. I often have trouble getting the big palm rest piece to snap into place properly in front. It wants to be loose either at one front corner or where it connects to the keyboard bezel. Any advic...

Re: Replacement Fan for T60 2613-CTO
When I exposed the top of the fan and still couldn't find the p/n, I decided to quit disassembling and post the question here instead. Looks like I'm getting good advice, too, as usual! Thanks for the thought though. This may not be feasible if you need to use the laptop in the meantime, but would r...

Re: Replacement Fan for T60 2613-CTO
Paul, Thanks for the tip. Is it hard to replace the fan in the blower assembly? Appears to be one of these: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=41W6409 I think that you can buy a bare fan for less money: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=41V9932+-heatsink&_sacat=0&_odk...

Replacement Fan for T60 2613-CTO
Hello All, My parts depot tells me the "CTO" in my T60 type 2613-CTO's number means "configure to order" and therefore they can't tell which of four possible blowers is the right one for my laptop. Can anyone identify it from this picture? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57869484/T60_Fan.jpg Thanks for any ...

Re: Unbearably Noisy Fan
The fan is easily replaceable but it is not a "CRU" (customer replaceable unit) - hence the need to send it in. As it's under warranty, bite the bullet and send it in for replacement. I did just that and I wish I'd done it sooner. Having been told by EZ Serv phone reps that the turnaround would be ...

Re: Replacement Fan, T60 Type 2613
Hi Keith, Well, perhaps not integrated in the sense of soldered and epoxied on, but that fan has a more intimate relationship with its motherboard than I'm comfortable tampering with on a machine that's still under warranty. I'm supposed to get an Easyserv box on Monday. The rep said four to five bu...

Re: Replacement Fan, T60 Type 2613
That machine is under warranty. Call IBM at 1-800-426-7378. If you think you can do it yourself, they will send you a fan free. If you cannot, you can send or take it in. (very fast turnaround). The best parts are the free ones Unfortunately the fan on this model is integrated with the motherboard ...

Unbearably Noisy Fan
Right now my (15") T60's fan is not only unbearably noisy but actually vibrating the keyboard so much it makes my fingers tingle. The box is still under wty but I'm told the turnaround would be at least a week. I've opened it up and cannot find anything visibly interfering with the fan. The fan is i...

Replacement Fan, T60 Type 2613
The fan on my T60 (Type 2613CTO, s/n L3BR126) has become distractingly noisy. I disassembled the laptop and blew out the fan with compressed air but that didn't help much, so it looks like I need to replace it. I've submitted a request for the part number and cost to the Electronic Service Call site...

Re: Preload drive showing full.....but it should have 80GB free!
Hi there, I recently reset my T61P (Vista Ultimate, MSOffice, Adobe CS3, 4GB RAM) back to factory settings cos it was getting slow, hanging on start, Office was crashing a lot, etc. I reloaded all my software onto the machine and saw that, like before I reset it, that I had 80GB free out of 180GB. ...

This wasn't a question of keeping or wiping data. There's still plenty of data on the old drive, it was just the "boot flags" that were removed, so the drive cannot be BOOTED. Stick it in a USB slot and everything else is still there--but that's not the point. A drive that has been cloned should st...

I know the Hitachi 7K200 has a larger cache of 16mb compared to the 100gb drive which was only 8mb. If the Seagate has a 16mb cache then it should be faster. You could compare the specs on the manufacturers website. So Hitachi 7K100 100gb to Hitachi 7K200 there would be a difference. Sometimes depe...

Great to hear. Have fun with the new larger faster drive. Brad Hi Brad, Thanks, I'm defragmenting it now. Just wondering though, is the Seagate 7200.2 (model ST9200420AS) faster as well as larger than the 7200.1 (ST910021AS)? Of course, just having adequate free space again will make the system a l...
