X41 Network Problem - all connectivity suddenly dies

Hello, Recently this X41 has been having this strange network problem. It'll be humming along fine, and suddenly I'll apparently lose all network connectivity. It looks like the network adapters are still connected, or at least the computer thinks they are, since ipconfig still shows the same inform...

Ultranav/Touchpad buttons not working?

This is a frustrating problem with my T43p. The mouse buttons below the track pad are completely dead. They do not work, and never did. The track pad itself works perfectly, so do the mouse buttons above it. The TrackPoint knob-thing works, too. I recently sent the notebook in because I was getting ...

Thanks for the link. I guess that would help with re-arranging my desktop icons, but doesn't fix the screen resolution problem... This shouldn't be happening in the first place :(

Problem with dock, screen resolution & desktop icons

Hello, I'm using a T43 with a dock (Port Replicator II, I believe). The Thinkpad has the SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen, and I'm using an external monitor on the dock's DVI port, at SXGA (1280x1024). When docked, I typically have my desktop extended onto the external monitor. All of these settings are sav...

Update: After running the PC Doctor Diagnostics, it looks like the X41 is okay. I don't know what happened, but there isn't a hint of the strange problem anymore. The computer booted fine, Presentation Director seems to be working well. I'm having some trouble getting some System Updates at the mome...

We'll see if I can boot from a CD at all. I have a bootable Partition Magic CD, which if I remember correctly, can attempt to repair bad hard disk sectors. Unless anyone has any reason not to, I'll add that to my list of things to try when I get home from work today. If I can boot from CD, I was als...

That's what I was thinking. I tried again this morning, and it looks like it's not completely stuck. It's doing something - the hard drive is still ticking, and I was able to get into the Access IBM Recovery system by holding down the Access IBM button immediately when the BIOS screen came up. I sta...

X41 won't boot after Presentation Director update

Hello, I just updated the Presentation Director for an X41 thinkpad. The update (7jua02ww.exe) is version number 2.55, released on 2006/12/07, straight from IBM/Lenovo's website. The page for this update lists the X41 as supported, as well as Windows 2000 and XP (I'm running XP). After installing th...

Will they refuse to service your warranty if you've e.g. replaced a processor? no idea. you can always try. when I asked them over the phone, they said that as long as you replace the part with a genuine thinkpad component, it'll be fine. that probably means a component directly from IBM/lenovo, or...

Update: I just got the thinkpad back today, and it looks like they repaired it! Sweet! I guess IBM will replace swapped out parts. Either that, or they didn't notice.

The seller didn't know the screen had this problem, or didn't tell me. He is advising me to try the warranty service first. The worst they can do is say "no" and send the thinkpad back to me, right? After the previous attempt at getting the screen fixed, I asked IBM over the phone whether swapping i...

Screen issue. Will warranty cover it?

I recently bought a used T43p, with the SXGA+ screen. It's still under warranty until 2008. The screen had a spill that got inside it, and IBM/lenovo wouldn't fix it under warranty. So the person I bought it from replaced the screen with another SXGA+ screen, but he said it came from a T41. There's ...
