Re: LCD/bulb or inverter? Or both?
For about half the price that jamiphar charges for just a CCFL-swap, you can buy a whole new LCD! Or even a complete lid: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-Lenovo-T60-14-1-SXGA-LCD-Screen-Complete-42T0372-Grade-A-/271023450408 Also check in our Marketplace forum (place a WTB if you like). Thanks a lot fo...

Re: LCD/bulb or inverter? Or both?
So here are more symptoms: When I turned the laptop back on tonight everything was very reddish again before it slowly got better. Then there was a high pitched noise coming from within or below the panel. The frequency dropped off and then the back light shut off. It comes back on when I close and ...

Re: LCD/bulb or inverter? Or both?
You have classic symptoms of a failing backlight. If your screen is otherwise perfect, then you might consider replacing the bulb, but to do it properly you need a "cleanroom", as they act like dust magnets when opened and once you get dust in one, cleaning it out without smears and streaks is next...

LCD/bulb or inverter? Or both?
Hello Everyone, So here I am going through another round of keeping my 6-year old T60 (2007C4U) running. This time it's the screen that looks like is finally giving in after years of great service and lots of use. Symptoms: this morning it was just black but hadn't hibernated or shut the screen off....

Help with replacing fan on T60 2007-C4U
Hello there, I've decided to keep my old Thinkpad for a little while longer and invest in a new fan or fan assembly since the things has started to buzz and is likely on its way out. Everything else is still pretty ok and it does what I need it for. I've done some research and it appears that 41V993...

Re: Pls help with saving/updating my T60
Hello again, So today my new 2GB ram arrived. I'm still testing things. First, I moved back the latest backup of my C drive. Then installed the new memory plus the 1GB old. Didn't take long before the next blue screen appeared. Memory test, however, showed no problems. So it could just be the old Wi...

Re: Pls help with saving/updating my T60
Excellent choice. But ~$10.- cheaper (after MIR) at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145361 I haven't heard about anyone loading 1.5GB speed software/firmware on a 3.0GB SATA HD. You just buy any 2.5" SATA HD, and stick it in. YMMV. Interesting. Newegg showed the dri...

Re: Pls help with saving/updating my T60
Thank you everyone for your help. I am testing memory at the moment. Wasn't able yet to recreate the problem. I ordered 2GB of ram and hope that it is just that and not a connector of the ram slot. But even then I would just use the 2GB in one -hopefully functioning- slot and am still better of then...

Pls help with saving/updating my T60
First off: I'm sorry if any of my questions are already answered in the forum. I did a superficial search while working on the laptop and getting some of my real work doneon another. So here is what happened: I have an IBM ThinkPad 2007 C4U 1.5 GB ram (original IBM 500 plus 1GB installed later). Thi...

Followed the instructions with sweaty hands. It worked!richk wrote:If SV password says disabled, you don't have one. You can reset POP as I described, but I am not comfortable without seeing the machine, and that doesn't seem likely since Boston is a long way from San Francisco.
Thanks

Re: Power-on password: T60 acting up
If you cannot change the settings, it sounds like you really have a supervisor password, not POP. You can clear the POP by pulling the battery, A/C and CMOS battery. (described in hardware maintenance manual) If you have a supervisor password and pull the batteries, the process will make the machin...

Re: Power-on password: T60 acting up
There is an option in BIOS under security called "Using pass-phrase" . Enable it and try the spaces again. Also make sure the "password reset service" is enabled. Thanks Harry. I can't enable "using pass-phrase". Can't scroll or tab to it. It's greyed out. "password reset service" is set to enabled...

Power-on password: T60 acting up
Hi there, First: I do understand the password rules here. I am not looking to hack anything or recover any p/w. I know the passwords, but my 2007-C4U all at sudden started to request a power-on password. It never did that before and I don't recall ever setting one. I can't change it in the BIOS sett...

The horrors of Sunday morning
It has been happening now every Sunday morning over the last few weeks: I turn on my Thinkpad T60 and Windows hangs at startup with various error messages relating to some DLLs and something with the Access Management of the wireless blahblah. My desktop items are gone at that point will remain gone...

Extend battery time: ultrabay battery?
I am looking to extend the time I can work on my T60 without a socket. I currently have the standard 6 cell battery and that works fine for most purposes. I don't really want the 9-cell battery since it is sticking out and wouldn't fit me sleeve anylonger. I am thinking about getting the ultrabay ba...

keep T-60 running with lid closed?
I just figured out how to turn off the screen with the computer still running (Fn + F3 and then "X turn off screen"). That somewhat helps. But sometimes I wish I could just close the laptop for a few minutes without it going into suspense mode, cutting me off the VPN connection, off the network and ...

I would keel over dead right now if Lenovo were to drop the 4:3 T-series altogether. In other words, I highly highly doubt they would do that. I am afraid that that may be only a matter of time. I just recently bought mine and when shopping around for laptops I noticed that the ubiquitous glossy wi...

Virtual memory
I upgraded my T60 from 512MB to 1.5GB memory. What should I set my virtual memory to? And why? What exactly does it do and how do low/high settings influence overall performance?
Thanks.
Thanks.

2. MAC uses are generally snobs. Well, that certainly was a factor as well. Not that it really matters that much and I am sure I can be a snob too. But it starts with these I'm-a-Mac-and-I'm-a-PC commercials. Yes, they are funny, but can I really identify with the Mac-dude other than him hitting on...

I believe the Razr can be used as a WWAN modem if you have a data plan.... not sure about the Blackberry. I am able to use my T-Mobile MDA as a WWAN (EDGE) modem via USB or Bluetooth. May I ask if you are just travelling within the U.S. or to other countries as well? The choices that work "worldwide" are relatively limited from what I know. Channels on Intel Pro 3945ABG?
I read the technical documentation for the Intel Pro 3945ABG WiFi chip . It looks as if it operates on different channels in different countries due to regulatory limitations. If I understand it right, it operates on channels 1-11 in the U.S. and channels 1-13 in Europe and Japan. The Lenovo documen...
