disk read error
My old faithful Yoga S1 is giving me a disk read error, but inconsistently so. I also know the SSD is working as I can plug it into an external and see all the files, system and my user files. thought the system on that disk might be corrupted somehow, so bought a new ssd and installed and it seemed...

wifi only works in airplane mode
Wifi only connecting through airplane mode, windows 10 After working normally for months, suddenly my Thinkpad X1 Yoga’s wifi stopped seeing my local router or 6 other connections. Normal troubleshooting, rebooting router etc, didn’t work. Device manager showed latest driver and Intel dual band ac 8...

Re: power socket vs power board repair/replacement?
I've just ordered a new powerbrick to see if that is the problem.
If you need to replace the DC-socket, this is what you need: https://www.ebay.com/itm/302224709478
Still hoping someone has already done this procedure and can say if its a simple plug in or needs more complicated soldering?

Re: power socket vs power board repair/replacement?
thanks for those links. I was hoping that unit might just plug out and in without soldering. Has anyone done this operation and knows what's involved? I was looking at that adapter plug from barrel to flat plug. I have an old adapter but its located in another country at the moment. I do have a new ...

power socket vs power board repair/replacement?
My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an er...

yoga S1 12 power socket replacement
My old S1 chugs along nicely after all these years. But increasingly I have a problem getting it to charge properly. Seems to be an issue with that flat rectangular power plug slotting into the socket. it wobbles quite a bit not making best contact. Sometimes it will be inserted and not show as plug...

help my old yoga's red light won't come on
I've got a 2 year old yoga 12 inch CD20 type, I think they were called S1 back then. It has waicom pen and 1900 screen. I am in France now with horrible service support (unfortunately, my still good warranty is for US depot only, so not international), so I'm hoping I can sort my problem out myself ...

Re: help, can't boot up, boot manager seems frozen
fixed it myself. turned out reinstalling ssd had nudged MB cabled enough not to allow ssd to fire up. Only discovered that when reinstalled second time and power button wouldn't work, just 3 blinks then off. Looked that up and saw MB cable issue was key. very tiny connection, very easy to miss disco...

Re: help, can't boot up, boot manager seems frozen
update I pulled the ssd out of yoga and can see all the OS and other files are still intact. Also, using a usb win 8 boot device, I got 4 window blue trademark back up, but it hung again, stating 80004001 error. Now I'm trying to repair via my win 7 x200's usb file repair software. scanning and hope...

help, can't boot up, boot manager seems frozen
Help, can’t boot after removing/replacing ssd on yoga s1. unit was working perfectly before that. All I wanted to do was upgrade my drive. I opened up my thinkpad yoga to check if new 480gb ssd was compatible with native 128 that came with it. All I did was slip the original out of contact points an...

fixed it. I held down the start button for a minute and somehow it seemed to break the cycle. Then pushed again and it booted up.

help, yoga won't boot up in safe mode, can't restore
How can I boot into safe mode? F8 doesn't seem to work. How can I get to safe mode and do a system restart? Re: The Review
I pulled the trigger and bought one, so will see. I've been waiting a year for the screen ghosting problem to be resolved. With new replacement number finally being found out, it would seem there is a fix. Following all this on the Lenovo Forum has been disheartening. Lenovo had not shown itself to ...

Hi, so you have had a few months to work it in. Any other issues or advantages you can add here for those of us still debating. Thanks for that, I'll try distilled water and let it dry out. The good thing is the keyboard's safety drains worked well.

solvent for cleaning keyboard
I haven't chased down exactly the right information about how to clean my slightly ailing x200 keyboard. I spilled some wine on it a month ago and it is clackier, clunkier, slightly slower than it was before. I reckon there was a mix of acidity and sugar that has gotten into the works of some keys. ...

Re: serious ghosting problem TP Yoga
following the ghosting issues on the above forum, solutions seem to remain unresolved so far. No one has detailed a new panel replacement part for the faulty LP panels. It also seems that where one moderator on the Lenovo forum has intervened repeatedly and tried his best to help out, lenovo have no...

Re: Yoga may be the worst thinkpad i ever own
I've been ready, indeed eager, to buy a TPY several times now but issues keep cropping up. So I've held off. The most troublesome seems to be an endemic ghosting problem with screen that shows up weeks/months after purchase. Lenovo forum is alive with this complaint that lenovo have gone very quiet ...

"You have to remember the smaller number of users who post with a problem is a very small percentage of the buyers as a whole and almost no one posts everything is going well. serious ghosting problem TP Yoga
I was toying with idea of getting one of these and found this thread which makes it clear there are serious, possibly unsolvable, hardware problems. Lenovo must have known about these but ignored without recognition until now. http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Thinkpad-Yoga-ghosting...

yoga pro 2 vs thinkpad yoga screen and other considerations
I'm debating 13.3 pro 2 Yoga vs Thinkpad Yoga 12.5 vs last of the x230t. I posted something earlier about missing the ability to view whole webpages on my old x60s screen vs my x200 wide angle and its need to endlessly scroll. How is visibility in 13.3 vs 12.5 screens these days? I 've seen complain...

13.3 vs 12.5 multi-touch screen?
I miss the ability of my old x60s to see an entire web page without scrolling. My x200 was frustrating in this respect and I'm moving on to next generation. How is visibility in 13.3 vs 12.5 screens these days. I assume resolution is better all round and might reduce web page size so I can see more ...

For those of us debating which or whether to buy the new generation of Thinkpads it would be useful to have a forum slot to do that. This is obviously a form factor that is here to stay, either pro or thinkpad.

Re: Why doesn't Lenovo offer Win8 yet on the X230T?
Has anyone been able to use a pen on the twist that functions as well as on x series tablets? Shame about Yoga replacing anything, I see having a keyboard facing my lap or table surface a solution to anything.
