Re: Disappointed with the T410...

Since when? It's not on processorfinder.intel.com , unlike the recently released processors found in current Thinkpads. Yup, you're right; only the desktop versions of the faster i7's are available. My mistake, but it's not going to make me any less grumpy. I absolutely insist on the inalienable ri...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was rounding down. I got my T400 on September 23, 2008.

Re: Disappointed with the T410...

You're right. There was a year between the T60P and the T61, and there was also a year between the T400 and T410. But given the 3.06 GHz Core i7 is already available, the situation here seems somewhat different. I suspect (i.e., hope) Lenovo will be making this an option in the near future, which wo...

Re: Disappointed with the T410...

Had they released a 3.06GHz Core i7 model, I would have already ordered one. And I'd say my move from a T60P (Core Duo) to T400 (Core2 Duo and backlit LCD) was a significant improvement in everything but aspect ratio. While I miss my 4:3 screen enormously, the T400 has an absolutely gorgeous, bright...

Disappointed with the T410...

Okay, in retrospect, I've decided this is a pointless rant caused by a long week of crummy weather. You may disregard my griping below and I humbly beg your indulgence... :D No, I don't have one yet. :) But I'm disappointed that I see no reason to upgrade from my T400 to a T410. The main gains woul...

I've been having this problem since the last BIOS upgrade. Very annoying and particularly noticeable when shutting down the machine.

BIOS Utility for Cryptographic Key?

I have a T400 with the FDE drive. However, even with they drive's password enabled, there is no BIOS option for resetting the Cryptographic Key.

Does anyone know if there's an equivalent of the following for a T400?

Thanks. Walking through that disagreeable thread and following some of the links, it would appear that only OEM drives support APS, which is precisely what Lenovo says in their whitepaper on APS. Seagate has a drive with separate, built-in technology that provides a similar feature, but its response...

Hard Drive Update: Hitachi Travelstar 7K320

I have a T400 with the 200GB 7,200 RPM encrypted drive. I'd like more storage capacity and an obvious candidate is the Hitachi Travelstar 7K320. I'm not aware of another 2.5" drive with more than 320GB storage at that spindle rate. (5,400 is too slow.) Is the Hitachi compatible with IBM's Active Pro...

Yes, that's what I do.

But it never stays off. It always turns itself back on when the machine is resumed or powered up; this requires that I use Fn-F5 to first turn it on and then off. (Somehow, the machine is unaware the WAN light is blinking and apparently on.)

Qualcom wireless hs-usb Verizon Wan

There had been a question here about how to disable this device, but dangnabbit, I can't find it now.

My Verizon WAN modem turns on with this machine, and I can't find a way to disable it. (The hardware device manager doesn't accomplish the task.)

Any ideas?

well, whats your budget? if you just want an upgrade, i suggest the T61P (14.1 comes in standard), and get a 32gig SSD (solid state disk). that will be a serious upgrade on the memory. Budget isn't an issue for this purchase. Presuming the price isn't highway robbery, then it doesn't really matter,...

Replacing my T60P (so soon, you ask?)

Hi all, I have a T60P, 14.1" square screen with FireGL VL5200 video, running XP, which I got soon after they were released. (It's probably my 10th Thinkpad but who's counting? :) I'm in a weird but cool situation where I need to replace this machine in the next few months, and I'll likely stick with...

My trick is to hit fn-F7, push the up arrow once, and then hit enter. That selects "Normal Display Settings" in the Presentation Manager and restores the screen to its regular state. I found out a new bug :-) After some time of inactivity, the screen turns itself off, which is normal. But if you wai...
