Re: T450 VS T460 what to buy

You can swap the panel on the T460 for any Full HD you'd like, on the T450 you can but unless you use Linux you will not be able to lower the brightness, it will be stuck at 100%, supposedly there's a new EDID override to make the brightness work but couldn't figure out when I had a T450 on my hands...

Re: T25 keyboard bezel to make T470 a 7-row?

Is it worth it to go to such lengths just for the quad core CPU on the T470p? cause thats literally the only advantage the T470p has over the TP25. I don't get the incessant need for a quad core cpu on the tp25 its not designed to be a heavy workstation. I think it would be a better idea to get a P...

I think Intel implemented the EDID override on a newer version for the T450 models, some info on this thread:

Not sure if the EDID would make the brightness work.

Re: T450s ebay Touchpad - no ultranav

I'm guessing the hardware is Alps and not Synaptics, that's what happened when I bought a T450 trackpad to use on my T440p, the Synaptics driver didn't work.

I'm using this version:
8.216.1616.114
Driver Date: 11/7/2014

Google it and try installing it

Lenovo again, remove that nice features on the new machines, but there's still hope. If they confirmed you the model number then you will be fine, I've bought 2 AUO B140HAN01.2 from AliExpress from two different sellers and the displays have been flawless, one is on my T440p and I've the other as backup.

Re: Best Value

I think a T420 or T430 would be fine, run it with 8GB of RAM and a SSD and the system would be good for more years down the road, CPU wise the newer laptops offer savings when used in battery mode but performance-wise they are very similar. You won't get a nice IPS Full HD Screen on the aforemention...

Re: Interview with David Hill

I'm a millenial and didn't like the route Lenovo took on the T25 Retro, seemed ludicrous trying to profit just by putting the 'classic' 7 row keyboard. Now to me a high resolution panel LCD is more important than having the classic 7 row keyboard, you can't have a cake and eat it too. We should just...

Re: CPU choice for T440p

Have you tried running the games you want to play with your current CPU? The T440p tends to run hot on Quad i7's, I own one with the 4710MQ and I have to use it on battery mode to avoid uncomfortable temperatures, also the SSD is placed on the Ultrabay since the left side of the machine tends to get...

If you have good eyes you will have no problem getting used to the high resolution. I also went from FHD to WQHD and I find it very pleasing to use, actually going back and forth to FHD, the latter now feels like low resolution. FWIW I'm using it with no scaling, the text looks smaller from distance...

I don't think it's possible. Those machines at that time were not designed to drive a 4K display, at least that's my theory, what was the maximum resolution on the T540p? At one point in the past I wondered the same thing but on a T460, to put a WQHD panel. In the end is not possible since the mothe...

Re: My New T440p

Yeah, performance-cost ratio is very good, heck the 4710MQ is faster than the Skylake i5-6300HQ on my T460p. Just be aware that changing the processor to quad core you will see the temps spike very noticeably, even just idling, as an illustration, I've set my T440p power policy to use only 5% of it'...

Re: My New T440p

The T440p is a nice machine, I dislike it a bit due to the poor heat dissipation, I have the i7 4710MQ version so it has a higher TDP of 47watts vs 35W on the i5's. You can put a nice AUO IPS FHD panel on it, can do the proper trackpad mod of the T450. It's a bulky machine, kinda similar on thicknes...

Re: Time for a new ThinkPad - can't decide

I would suggest a T440P, they have 2 DIMM slots, 1080P displays, good cooling and the choice of a 9 cell battery! The touchpad swap that Thinkpad4by3 mentioned is also a lot easier, you just have to remove the palmrest/keyboard assembly to change it IIRC. I've seen them go for £200GBP (around $260U...

Hi. I have a T440p with a Core i7. I have to run that thing on "minimum" CPU power always so "Maximum Battery Life" is used in Power Options, otherwise that thing would get very hot, CPU temperatures in the range of 55-65C. When using with 5% of CPU power it can stay at 44-50C with the fan set to Mo...

Yesterday I attempted to install the SXGA+ panel to my X61. Cutting off the "ears" was a real PITA, and in the end I did end up cracking the screen from all that prying those metal ears. I had a Dremel but the bit used to hold in place the cut-off disks was missing and also didn't hold tight any too...

Hi, Just a thought, the panels used on the T470 don't have really good color reproduction and also do not cover a good amount of sRGB and Adobe RGB. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T470-Core-i5-Full-HD-Notebook-Review.198130.0.html Last year I bought a T460 with the Full HD screen thin...

Saw a local ad for a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p. Seller was asking $1,000 Mexican Pesos (around 55 US Dollars). I didn't ask for the TYPE, looked at all the T60p TYPE's and almost all of the 14.1" models came equipped with the SXGA+ and FireGL V5250. Met in person, laptop came without OS installed, booted...
