All Thinkpads from X31, T40 and R50 (?) onwards have USB 2.
The Samsung support is wrong.

On weekends, the Lenovo servers are quite often not responding or sluggish. During the week there seem to be a lot less problems.

Re: mc8765 installation on x60s

My Sierra cards (MC8755 and MC 8775) appear as 2 COM ports, a network device and a modem. That is, they should appear as a modem. Sometimes when installing the drivers they don't. Usually this works: - add new hardware in control panel - after Windows didn't find it say it is installed, select modem...

Re: Linux Mint 10 Julia Released

Even when you have XP one one partition and on another partition you then install Windows 7, Windows 7 WON'T give you the option to boot XP! AT least, that is what I was A) told and B) read. I really doubt that's inaccurate. But it is. If you install Windows 7 after Windows XP the Win7 bootloader w...

Re: Software to monitor temperatures

If you just want to check the temperatures every once in a while a

Code: Select all

more /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal
(or thereabouts) should do the trick.

If you want to monitor the temperature constantly I would suggest conky, which needs some work to set up, or any of the panel applets.

R&R probably wrote over some parts of the bootsector where GRUB stores some data needed to boot into GRUB.

What you need to do now is restore that. No need to reinstall everythink.
One way to do that: http://www.sorgonet.com/linux/grubrestore/

I've had issues with the ATI 9000 card found in some T4x machines. Anyone else running Ubuntu ever have any video issues with their ATI Radeon cards? Yes, Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04 have some problems with ATI cards. That has to do with the switch to KMS (kernel mode setting), and some X servers for old...

You need a WiFi card with drivers that support WPA.

If you want to use WPA2 (highly recommended, as WPA security is slowly eroding) and have Windows XP without SP3 you need this hotfix.

First Win XP, as it does not recongnize either Win 7 or Ubuntu.
Then Win 7, as it knows about Win XP.
Then Ubuntu, which should add both Windows installations to it#s boot menu, as already mentioned.

After removing the fan you should ALWAYS remove any grease from the CPU, GPU and fan and apply new one.

Leaving the old one on doesn't work in the long run.

As far as I know Virtual PC 2007 does not support AMD-V and I-VT and thus runs slower than VMware or VirtualBox.
