Very possible
I did a clean install of my XP pro on my T42 (2686-M4U). No problems up to now. I found the instruction on making the XP disc somewhere here in the forum. Just search of it. Reason why you need to make the XP disc for the serial number on the sticker on the bottom of your machine to work. Retail XP ...

LF: Hitachi 7200rpm Drive for T43 and/or 1GB stick
Hi guys, I'm looking for a Hitachi 7200rpm (OEM) drive for my T43 2686-M4U. Between 80-100GB which wouldn't give me that 2010 error.
Also looking for an Elpida 1 GB DDR2 SODIMM PC2-4200 533Mhz CL4. Likewise for the same machine.
Thanks.

LCD upgrade possible?
Hi guys,
Just curious. I have a T43 (2686-M4U), that is 14.1" XGA (1024x768) ATI X300. Now, I'm curious if I can install a 14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD. I understand I can't do anything with the GPU. It's embedded on the mobo. Thanks.

Peformance...
Peformance, I think it signifies that the certain model is top of its class. If you look at the specs, the "T43P" models comes with a 7200RPM HD, graphics, etc.

I installed Windows Vista RC2 Build 5744, so far, it's the best Build I've ever tested in my T43 (2686-M4U/1GB RAM). I did an upgrade from Build 5728. I was to lazy to do a clean install even though I know, I clean install would be better than an upgrade. My Peformance index increased by .1 hahahha,...

Well it boils down to your needs really. Like in our case, we develop solutions. We like it or not, we have to go Vista to test our applications. Even if I don't like the new OS and our clients want it, we dont have a choice. I'm running Vista Build 5728, so far so good on my machine. It's not perfe...

Windows Vista RC1 Build 5728
Did a clean install last night of the latest Windows Vista Build 5728 on my T43 2686-M4U. I find it a bit more stable than Build 5600. Most of the ThinkVantage software doesn't work still, but I can live without those. The clean install was better compared to upgrading Build 5600. After the installa...

I dont know if you guys would agree with me. But for me, You cannot compare apples with oranges. That goes for a ThinkPad and a MacBook. They're 2 different types. I used to have a Powerbook too. For me, if you're doing high end desktop publishing/non-linear edition, then mac would be a good choice....

Need advice regarding Hidden Partition (RnR;F11)
Hi guys, I installed Windows Vista RC1, after checking it out, I'm thinking of going back to WinXP. Now the thing is, the HPA (EISA) is still intact, and I'm quite sure of it. But since I understand that the original Lenovo MBR isn't there already coz of Window Vista RC1 I couldnt do the startup F11...
