Re: Opening bottom cover of T460p

Get a plastic (preferably nylon) spudger (pry tool) used to open smartphones. Makes it much easier to pry open the case without damaging it. And it's easiest if you follow the order in the Maintenance Manual. http://esdproductsupply.com/products/15-8-1b.jpg Wish I had known about these; I ended up ...

Re: Does the offset keyboard bother anybody?

Keep in mind that standard desktop keyboards are all offset, with the number pad on the right; so if you've adapted to that, you'll likely adapt to your notebook computer having a number pad on the right.

Re: Thinkpad T440s Ultrabook up on Lenovo website?

Seems like only one memory slot is listed as FRU. So does that mean 8GB is the max or is there some built-in memory as well? - G - 4GB soldered with an open socket, so 12GB max is my guess. Unless and until they come up with a compatible 16GB single socket DIMM? Info is back up on the Lenovo site, ...

Thanks all. I received my DP-to-HDMI adapter and long HDMI cable, and it passes video just fine; but as you confirmed, no audio. I'll try the separate audio cable idea.

Will a T500 DisplayPort pass audio through an HDMI adapter?

Hi all - no definitive answer on the web as far as I can see. If I get a DisplayPort - to - HDMI adapter for my T500, will it pass audio as well as video?

I see plenty of "yes" answers for T510 and later, but not for the T500. Thanks.

Re: Which new HD can I use in a T500? WD Scoprio Blue/Black?

I upgraded my T60p to a 500GB Scorpio Black and it worked flawlessly. My T500 came from the factory with a Hitachi 500GB/7200 rpm drive; it failed at about 9 months. Lenovo promptly sent a replacement, also a Hitachi. So far it's working. Both the WD and Hitachis are quiet in their respective 'puters.

(You can probably salvage the data on your old hard drive as the previous poster mentioned - hook it into a USB enclosure and give it a try. If that doesn't work...savage away!)

Looks like this updates the switchable graphics driver...but it's still manually switchable, yes? I'm still hoping they will update to a fully automatic option - discrete when on AC power, integrated when on battery.

Re: WTB: 6 cell battery for T60P WS

If not too late, we might have a swap possibility here. I just bought a new T500 with a 6-cell battery and swapped it with my old T60p's 9-cell battery. The 6-cell I have has a cycle count of 1. Manufacture date: 2010-01-24. It'll most certainly fit your T60p as it's currently powering my old T60p (...

T42 - no LED lights along the bar above the keyboard

Hi gang - first post. My 2379-DXU had a cracked screen, which I had replaced. However, now the LED strip won't light up - disk drive light, NumLock, CapsLock, power, etc. The only LED that's lighting is the wireless icon. These LEDs appear to be part of the inverter card, so I bought a replacement i...
