Re: Moving from X200T to X220T

If you are careful, a 9.5mm drive will just fit in an X220/t, but without any rubber rails. Getting it out though is very difficult, but can also be done. Take the main drive out, when you put in the mSATA drive and install another C: on it. Then just set the boot-sequence in BIOS Startup to boot fr...

If you want 1980x1200, look into these: Dell U2412M or U2415, both are 24" IPS.

Re: R60+ATI+T7200 runs hot

No, you don't!
That compressed air is too strong to use directly aimed at the fan, it can make the fan turn faster than normal, and if the fan blows in the wrong direction, it may wreck it!
Put a toothpick or similar in your fan to stop it from turning, before you use compressed air to clean it.

Apologies, I never opened the lid of mine.
I'd be happy to sell you my perfectly working X1C1 (3443-CTO, i5-3337U, 8GB RAM, 180GB SSD), but my price plus shipping will be a wee bit more than £95.

Return it for a refund or a working/tested replacement!
But run a Linux-Live from a USB stick first to check if brightness works there.

T440p and T450 can use the same panels.

But yeah, it's the palmrest mouse buttons that are behind that.
So both don't work?

Welcome to the Forum.

Non-working LEDs mean a blown fuse on the motherboard.
Dozens of posts about that, if you read/search the T6x forum.

Are you talking about the keyboard's or the palmrest's mouse-buttons?

Re: Fan error t420

Date/Time is kept by the CMOS battery, just reset it in BIOS, that's all. If you remove the fan (again), does it look as if the whole CPU-surface and the whole matching part on the heatsink are evenly covered in thermal paste? If only a part of the heatsink is covered in paste, you may have a warped...

Re: Fan error t420

You could try to buy/borrow/replace the CPU, although they rarely fail. But if yours already gets hot in a few seconds, something is not quite all right. Few more things to try: check that you have no passwords in BIOS, then switch off, remove charger and battery. Hold down the Power-button for abou...

Re: X220 Displayport issue in Windows but not in Linux

Have a look at the refresh rates, some are set to 50Hz (X220 ?), others to 60Hz (monitor).
Stuff like Intel video-drivers, power settings, etc.

Welcome to the Forum. If fan and thermal paste are in good condition, then usually the fan will only run for a few seconds at boot, then stay off until the CPU gets hot. Did you clean/refresh the paste when you replaced the fan? Instructions: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth/int/ss/intel_app_...

Congratz on that quick CT-problem solving! To set things straight: Computrace is NOT (and never was) part of the BIOS. The only 'links' to the BIOS are the settings: Enabled/Disabled/Permanently disabled. The rest is stored in different chips, initially in the likes of 24RF08 or PC8394, lately in mu...

Computrace also works with several Linux versions, but they just won't admit that. I suggest you get a spare HD or SSD with a very basic W7 on it, doesn't even have to be activated/updated. Run that, go online to a safe website, then call Absolute again and tell them (again) you want CT deactivated....

Welcome to the Forum.

Most likely you can thank blame Micro$haft's W10 for that.
Maybe run Systemupdate if that still exists?

Run a recent Linux-Live from a USB-stick and see what happens there.
