Re: Wanted: W7 Registry entry for Display 12.5" FHD *LEN40E4*

I was actually after the EDID for that screen. In the meantime I think I got it from W10. If someone else wants it: Key Name: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY\LEN40E4\4&1cf99b88&0&UID265988\Device Parameters Class Name: <NO CLASS> Last Write Time: 10/19/2017 - 7:41 AM Value 0...

Wanted: W7 Registry entry for Display 12.5" FHD *LEN40E4*

I'm looking for a specific Registry entry in a W7 installation (not W10). This entry is only applicable to 12.5" IPS FHD (1920x1080) screens such as used in X240/X250, but also in X220/X230 with nitrocaster 's FHD-mod. Using regedit.exe go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY...

Maybe HD/SSD 'roaming' without bumpers? If so, correct and reseat.
USB port(s) damaged inside?
CD-drive not quite in?
Keyboard/trackpad connector loose?
LCD-cable fallen out of LCD or loose inside?

I placed my laptop onto my bed gently
which probably blocked all the vents.
No fresh air coming in, no hot air going out, most likely CPU died from overheating.
Try another CPU (if not soldered) and check that the fan still turns...

It says it ... Time Required - 30 - 35 minutes to do the job ... After looking at all the steps ... I see that as 'several days' if not more, keeping track of all the screws , cables and steps ... and then a person has to 'backtrack' to get back to square one. 1) That color-coding should be a hint ...

And don't forget that the WXGA lid has a groove along the LCD-cover top.
WXGA+ (1440x900) lid has no such groove.

Left it overnight charging, with a bad/dead battery in it?
Remove that battery, also disconnect CMOS-battery, then try to boot.

Re: Thoughts on the T440 and T450 quality

The T440p and T450p have an optical drive, which you can replace with a 3rd adapter+HD/SSD.
Their cardreader is connected with a flex flat cable, so no go for #4.

One more thing: replace the IPS HD with an IPS FHD, after applying nitrocaster's FHD-mod, see here: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=122640

Yes, you can use a 1440x900 LCD as a drop-in replacement.
See HMM for details.

Can't be bothered to burn any CD/DVD in a laptop. Instead I'm using an ASUS DRW-24B1ST drive in my desktop. For 8.5GB I use Verbatim DVD +R DL and burn them at 6x speed, the slowest my burner can do. Bought a box of 15, still have 6 left. No duds yet. For 4.7GB I use TDK DVD +R and burn them also at...

Take the CD drive out and see if the T41 starts then without error.
For only a few dollar you get another drive.
Those things can last 1 day, or 1 month, or 10 years, potluck I'd say.

Since this thread is about T440 and T450 , I just found some interesting info. T440/T450 as well as X240/X250 Series are members of an 'elite' group that can have THREE storage drives ! The T440/X240 Series do not mention this in their HMM, but T450/X250 Series do. All of 'em mention them in their f...

Re: Thoughts on the T440 and T450 quality

Since you seem to be in the know, why are there so many throwaway Lenovo lines, starting with nearly every letter of the alphabet?
They could save a lot of money by dumping at least half of those, and spend the saved money to improve keyboard and screens.

Re: Thinkcentre M58p MAX CPU and RAM support

Just out of curiosity, I have an M58 full tower (9960-ALU) with E7500 (2.93GHz), Intel GMA-4500, (maxed out) 8GB RAM and W7-Pro.
It could run a quad Q8200 (and probably others) but I see no reason at all to even consider that.
