Re: T61 Middleton BIOS problem

I assume somebody changed a setting in the BIOS which disabled the first two entries on the 'network' page. Although the problem now seems to be resolved, it would be good to know what actually caused it. Unless you can ask the person who did this, you'll never know. Can't have been anything seriou...

Re: P51s ssd connector malfunction

You wrote "connector to the motherboard..." which I assumed was the cable. I didn't get that the (soldered) motherboard-connector itself had broken off. Sloppy work apparently from Wistron, who makes those mobos. Maybe if you use a magnifying glass, you might find some solder-points on that (now emp...

Re: P51s ssd connector malfunction

If I understand you correctly, the 2.5" HDD was faulty and was removed. The 2nd Transcend drive in the WAN-slot has now also been removed, while you have a new one. You try to boot from USB (but without any other drive in the P51s), but that doesn't work. Possibly that machine needs to have a drive ...

Re: P51s ssd connector malfunction

You must be mixing up laptops.
Maybe you installed the P51 BIOS instead of P51s?
The P51 has an option for RAID in BIOS, where you can make those changes.
Your P51s does NOT have that option.
You'll need to select which drive to boot from first in BIOS/Startup/Boot (double-click Boot and select).

Re: WiFi Keeps disconnecting

AFAIK that laptop has a wifi-whitelist, so until you remove it you are 'stuck' with one of those cards mentioned.
Stay away from Realtek, fastest one is BCM43162.
Why not try and swap antenna wires, doesn't do any harm.

Indeed no wifi-whitelist on T480.
If ever needed, I would try Techinferno first, BIOS-MOD second, no way for noob BIOS-DOCTOR.

I would say: history repeats itself.
Thinkpad 755CDV with transparent screen already existed around 25 years ago!

Re: W530 - WiFi module upgrade for 802.11AC / AX ?

AFAIK the AX3000 is dual-band wifi-6 and AXE3000 is tri-band wifi-6e.
Please note: these cards (as well as AX200/AX210) run ONLY on W10/W11/Linux!
No drivers for W7 found, even after 4 years trying!

Re: Trying to repair an R51, will an R50 work as a parts donor?

The manual (see the HMM link above) is the same for R50, R50p and R51.
The speakers will fit in all R50/R51 models.
As long as they are the same size (both 14.1" or both 15"), the bottom case will also fit.

Apply 1vyrain (to remove wifi-whitelist) and install the mini-PCIe AX3000 (version of AX200) wifi card.

Do not use whatever was installed on that laptop.
Install a fresh Linux/Windows/Whatever from scratch.
Might even be a good idea to also get another SSD.

You can't tighten those hinges.
Replace them with e.g. these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/833448414.html or look for them on eBay etc.

Re: Issues with new backlit keyboard for Thinkpad X230

That FRU 04X126 4 is for Slovakia, not for UK. The UK version is 04X126 9 . Mis-read? Carefully remove the KB-cable. With a magnifier, check that there is no dirt or bent pins in either cable or motherboard connector. Reinsert straight down and make sure it is fully pressed in. If still no luck, and...

Never even heard of a T420u!
And AFAIK there are no manuals for that either.
And I could not find it in the withdrawn PSREF either...

Anyway, remove the HDD/SSD and the RAM, try to boot, does it now beep 1-3-3-1?
If not, you may have a serious motherboard problem.

Ever since I applied it to my T440p with iGPU, dGPU fan, i7-4702MQ, 16GB RAM and 2 SSDs, it has always stayed under 60C, regardless of load.

Re: Flickering Screen on Low Battery

That these machines even work on battery for a short time is a bonus. These are WORKstations with high power needs, not laptops that are supposed to work on batteries. If you need them to run on battery, maybe you should start charging sooner, say at around 20%? From what I have read on the web, the...
