Re: Can you combine 4 ISO-files into just 1 big ISO?

Thanks, but that's not what I am asking. The Dell guy had one big file that was previously split in multiple part-files. Copying those back together again would indeed work. But my ISOs are independent, not part of 1 big file. They were the original Lenovo Recovery set of 4 disks (CD/DVD), where eac...

Re: W520 not getting to BIOS at all

If no beep, then your BIOS (and/or your mobo) is more or less dead. I suggest to contact these people if they also can do a W520 replacement BIOS chip: https://www.ebay.com/itm/130993545367 Or go DYI: - get an SPI flasher - obtain a readout from a working W520 BIOS - flash that readout over your bad...

Can you combine 4 ISO-files into just 1 big ISO?

I have a set of 4 Lenovo Recovery discs in ISO format (W7-Pro/SP1 64-bit). Disk 1 (ISO-1) is bootable, the other 3 (ISO-2, ISO-3, ISO-4) contain Data and are asked for in sequence during install. Together they are ~ 11GB. I have burned them onto 4 DVDs and can install from those DVDs. But I'm gettin...

Re: W520 not getting to BIOS at all

Remove HD, CD, RAM, battery and charger.
press on power button and hold down for 20-30 seconds.
Plug in only charger.
Laptop should beep 1-3-3-1 for having no RAM.
If so, reinsert RAM, charger only and try to boot to BIOS (press F1).
Any luck?

Re: W520 not getting to BIOS at all

Welcome to the Forum. The following assumes that either there is no BIOS supervisor password, or you know it. If there is and you don't know it, don't do this! Switch off, remove the CMOS battery for about 20 seconds, then reinsert it and boot. It should then force you into BIOS to at least set Date...

If the thermal paste is of decent quality (like my favorite Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or Hydronaut),
one small dollop of about the size of one corn/grain of the below rice is usually enough for laptop CPUs:

Re: New Thinkpad T25 - Anniversary

That's the nicest C64 concoction I have ever seen! That guy did a great job. I had my (regular, multi-piece) C64 last century, in the early '80s. A keyboard/CPU, a power supply, a monitor, a tape drive, 2 floppy drives, a matrix printer and a rather empty bank account. Compared to that, this T25-Ret...

Re: X200 CCFL Display on X200s ???

That's a dangerous (and only temporary) solution!
Buy 1 or 2 fuses (3A, 32V) and solder it piggy-back on top of the old one.

Re: Will T530 keyboard fit in T520?

Switch off the T520 before you swap keyboards.
Then check every key to see if they work. Remap where possible.
Learn to live with some missing keys and some non-working keys, plus a terrible chicklet keyboard layout.

The X230 has both a ThinkLight plus the option of backlit or non-backlit keyboard.
It's the only machine that has both.

Re: t61 predicament

That CPU is not suited for the T61.
For faster CPU it needs these: T8100, T8300, T9300 (best value), T9500 or X9000 (exaggerated).
And do NOT apply more than a rice-corn size of thermal paste on the CPU, spread that evenly to cover the whole CPU-surface.

Re: Will T530 keyboard fit in T520?

It would fit, if you also get a T530 palmrest. Or you need to check that the T530 slides properly into the T520 palmrest openings, you probably need to modify some. The keys need to be remapped, but not all of them will work, and you won't have keyboard-backlight. But why? The T520 keyboard is so mu...

This website has them all: http://psref.lenovo.com/
Check the Withdrawn Products, then on the next page: View the products withdrawn before 2015.
Then check Withdrawn between 2005-2013, etc.

This one has them: http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF ... k_2013.pdf

Re: T400 stuck on ThinkPad logo

Check those USB ports again with a flashlight and a magnifier.
It's easy for any of those pins inside the USB port to bend and short against the metal housing.
Quite often you can't even see it.
Also check for dirt inside the ports.

Re: missing components with spare wires inside?

Both T61 and W500 have the WWAN slot with red/blue antenna wires at roughly the same place, between CPU-socket and PCMCIA-cage.
The SIM-slot sits near the WLAN card, a.k.a. wifi card with grey/black or grey/black/white antenna wires.

Check the fuses on the motherboard nearest to the LCD-cable connector.
Complete (working!) displays (LED or CCFL) are interchangeable between X200/X200s.

Re: R61 Dual Boot - Win7 Pro 64 Bit & WinXP Pro 32 Bit

R61 can boot from Ultrabay. If you install the OS with the drive installed in the Ultrabay, remove the regular HD/SSD before you start. Set the BIOS to boot from the 2nd HD first, then install. When finished put the original drive back in, and set BIOS to boot first from your main drive. Then when y...
