Re: T61 SSD

Try the T9300 CPU (most bang for your buck).
There should be a real difference between HDD and SSD.
If not, your current SSD might be full or faulty or has a bad OS-installation.

The 15" 4:3 R61 was only available with Intel graphics.
That's where 15" 4:3 T601 can shine.

Re: Did X260 X270 (or T46-80) have the option for a 3rd m.2 SSD?

AFAIK only **40 and **50 series had that (M.2 NGFF 2242) 3rd drive option via adapter-board+cable. Technically only a one-sided SSD fits on the adapter-board, but it looks like you can also force a double-sided SSD onto it, if you don't mind bending the adapter-plate. I'd be afraid to break the SSD-...

I definitely agree he is a spammer. And that post has NOTHING to do with fixing a Thinkpad! The poster Icanay claims he is in North Bergen, NJ His IP-address 178.128.145.45 originates in the Netherlands. If you check that IP on http://stopforumspam.com/search they think he is in/from Greece. And he ...

I suggest not wasting any money on those R40.
They were made by Acer and then re-badged.

Best HD IPS screen is the LP125WH2-SLT1 (also used in the Lenovo Twist S230).
Some come with, others without touchscreen.
Apparently you can remove the touch-part from those screens, but I never tried that, as I found the non-touch screens.

Not sure if that is SMD 0603 or 0402 size.
You might find one on another faulty motherboard.
Use a magnifier and some tweezers, a very fine-tipped soldering iron and some flux.

Unfortunately, you replaced the IE11 with even worse [censored] = anything WebKit based. It is slow and very resource hungry. Not sure where you get your info from, but that's totally wrong! Here's a picture of some browser comparisons: https://img.raymond.cc/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/browser...

I had already tried that, but it did not work.
It was saying something like I already had a newer version, so that this could not be installed. What BS!
Since I didn't want IE anymore anyway, I couldn't care less.
Good riddance to that POS piece of slow bloatware!

After a few small chassis-modifications put a 14.1" 4:3 T61 motherboard (Intel or nVidia NVS140M) in the T60p and convert it into a true FrankenPad with Middleton's BIOS.
Up to 8GB RAM, SATA-II speed, 64-bit OS, Penryn CPU options T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500/X9000, etc.

32-bit Slimjet even though my W7-Pro OS is 64-bit.
The Pale Moon browser that I use for everything else, is also 32-bit.
Faster, less "accident-prone" and less RAM-consuming than their 64-bit versions.

Nope, you can do just the battery-mod with EC for all xx30 Thinkpads.
I have it on a self-booting USB-stick, so I don't need to install Linux first.
My current X230 has that EC battery-mod (and an X220 batt.), but is otherwise standard.

Welcome to the Forum.

Rather than buying them possibly and most likely non-working cable-concoctions, why not spend a few dollars more and get them a more modern flatscreen TV with HDMI?
Or have them watch those program ON that W520?
