Re: power socket vs power board repair/replacement?

If you need to replace the DC-socket, this is what you need: https://www.ebay.com/itm/302224709478 Looking at the other part of that unit, if those pins are soldered, yuck, good luck! Rather than buying a whole charger, if you have older ones with barrel-plug, consider this: https://www.ebay.com/itm...

Don't buy such cheap Chinese junk.
It'll wear out after only a few uses.
See this instead: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.p ... 58#p788758

And your TP-link card should do anywhere between 180 Mbps and 300 Mbps.

Try to rub the RAM gold contacts with an eraser till they shine, then remove any eraser remnants and try again.
Also reseat your CPU once or twice.
When it's all put back (without the palmrest) and still no go, keep pressing on the Southbridge (Intel chip under the wifi-card) and try again.

Re: LF: T6x/T4x DVD (Multi) Burner ...

If you regularly burn CDs or DVDs, get a proper external full-size (5.25") USB-unit. I use this: Housing with its own power supply: http://www.cooldrives.com/media/catalog/product/cache/17/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_541.jpg Drive: 5.25" ASUS DRW-24B1ST It works with every PC or...

Re: X240: was LF EDID Registry entry, FOUND: Intel's own EDID override!!!!

Unfortunately that 00HM134 still did not solve the problem.
But it does work under Linux.
I tried Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon "Sarah, but will try "Sylvia next", should also be OK.

Methinks the time has come to start saying Good Bye to Windows.
I was already planning that anyway...

My wife had a shop with a MagicJack phone. Worked like a charm. She closed the shop and the MJ account about 4 years ago, but she still gets occasional telephone-messages via email. And the number is still 'alive'. MJ is great for taking abroad as well. When you use the MJ in e.g. France to call ano...

Re: x200 display upgrade questions..

Welcome to the forum. The 'usual' way to upgrade is by transferring a complete lid with 1440x900 LCD onto yours. Done it many times. The lid itself and its 'innards' are different from the standard 1280x800 lids. If you go for 1440x900, you will lose the webcam, but gain much wanted/needed screen he...

So I also reduced the price to $70 for the lot!

There are adapter dongles to use the older PSUs with newer Thinkpads but I haven't seen anything to do the reverse.
I got some of these adapters:

Re: T61 internal monitor blank, external monitor OK

Hi Mike, if I remember correctly, that was an 08/04 (2008/April) laptop. This means it still has the old version nVidia chip. Most likely it is finally giving up the ghost after 10 years of faithful duty. The external monitor might still work for a while longer, the internal one I'm afraid is a 'gon...

Re: T61 14.1" Charging takes +3hours on 65W. What is the maximum modern charger ?

The 'standard' stronger charger for that series is the 20V/90W, which would be the recommended one for your T61.
Next one up: 20V/135W as e.g. used for W520, already 'overkill' for a T61.
Next one up: 20V/170W as e.g. used for W530, huge, has a different DC-plug, is not worth it for your T61.

Re: T410 vs T420 vs T430

Welcome to the Forum. If you want to choose between T420 and T430, then your best solution would be: T430 with the keyboard from the T420 , which requires an EC-mod: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=120776 plus the extra expense of another (T420) keyboard. But if you're happy with th...

Craigslist usually is a person-to-person meeting, with cash in your pocket, to buy the item right there. (Bit far from Italy...) Better to check our Marketforum, or check our sister-forum in Germany: https://thinkpad-forum.de/forums/7-Marktplatz And the Swiss https://www.ricardo.ch/de/c/o/com...

Welcome to the Forum.
Get the 00HM745, the (older) 00HM111 has ghosting problems
The X240 FHD screens need one of these eDP cables: 0C46007, 00HM134 or 00HM135.
If your current cable is 0C46006, 04X0877 or 04X0878 you'll need one of the above.
