Re: Retro Thinkpad T61p Build! Warning PICS!
Here is the definition of retro: imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past. Is the t61p a design from the recent past? YES Your T61p is not an imitative , it is the very design T61p itself. Nothing to do with retro. And nobody forces you to post here, but if you do, we expect pe...

Welcome to the Forum. How long have you had your #1 T430? You want to tell us that you never knew the size of its HD or SSD? And how was it shown or decided, that a CMOS-battery prevented it from booting? You say your warranty has expired, yet your supplier replaced the machine? With what? And check...

Objection, Your Honor!
That UXGA-link is for a LED-mod, which ONLY applies to 15" T60 and/or R60/R61.
T43/p can NOT work with such a screen.

ANY T60 motherboard will work, as long as it is one made for the 14.1"/15" model (like the linked one) NOT suited are 14.1" widescreen and 15.4" widescreen mobos. You can swap out all other parts (incl. CPU) between machines/mobos. For how-to download the Manual from the HMM link above. Alternativel...

Most likely a half-dead GPU: internal NOK, external OK.
ATI X1400 is infamously known for running rather hot, which does not exactly keep the GPU fit.

SPB3 (very good) or SPB4 (the best and brightest) will also work, provided you are able to cut off the mounting eyelets on both short sides. I got an SPB3 (SPB4 was not available at that time) and cut those bits off with a Wiss cutter (metal shears) and put that in my X240. See also https://forum.th...

Re: Please give advice on purchasing a used IBM Thinkpad T60p in 2018
Don't want to be obnoxious here, but why use a screensaver? If you walk away from your machine, you shouldn't ask it to keep working, it deserves a break as well! My suggestion: After x minutes of non-use, let the screen go off, no saver. You are not using it, so I guess you are also not supposed to...

Don't blame Lenovo for that! Blame whomever sold you that unit! (S)he was the one that wrecked those holes/posts. And magnesium frames have never been known for having just one color. Even new ones can have every shade between silver and dark grey. Over time they discolor at different rates in diffe...

Try and install Middleton's BIOS, then upgrade the CPU to T8100/T8300/T9300/T9500 or even X9000.
Those CPUs may give you better control.
Question: since when is Hanoi located in United States?
Your proper Location would be appreciated.

The 5 beeps might come from a dying CMOS battery, but could also have something to do with Intel's shoddy ME.
Can you disable that in BIOS?
Quite often the beeps go away.

If you're talking fuses, I usually get mine from http://www.newark.com/ but there are also others such as https://www.digikey.com/ and https://www.mouser.com/ If you are handy with a soldering iron and tiny SMD fuses, you can either replace them, or solder a new one piggyback style on top of the old...

The best (PATA/IDE) HD would be 160GB/5400rpm Samsung HM160HC.
Or find someone who can SATA-mod your machine, after which you can use any SATA-I downwards-compatible HD or SSD.
